The Blue Jays went into Sunday's game against the Pirates riding a four-game winning streak. But the series finale couldn't have gone much worse from an injury standpoint.

Blue Jays starter Dylan Cease left in the fifth inning after feeling hamstring discomfort on a 1-0 pitch to Brandon Lowe. Cease signaled to the trainers and was removed from the game after two runs (a pair of solo home runs) on four hits.

The Blue Jays were describing the hamstring injury as mild discomfort. So, at least initially, it does not sound like something that should sideline Cease for extended time. Still, hamstrings always have teams erring on the side of caution.

The injury situation only got worse in the bottom half of the inning.

With a runner on first and two outs, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. took a 92 mph fastball to the right elbow — his inside arm. Guerrero Jr. immediately went towards the dugout and was removed from the game.

As concerning as that scene looked, the Blue Jays did get good news from the X-ray.

X-rays came back negative, and they're calling the injury an elbow contusion.

The Blue Jays lost, 4-1, but they'll certainly come away more focused on their stars' health.
