Jan. 13—BISMARCK — On Jan. 9, the Jamestown High School boy's hockey team put 39 shots on goal and not one of them went in.

That was not the case on Tuesday.

In game No. 10 of the season, the Blue Jays handily defeated Bismarck High 6-3, to improve to 7-3. Jamestown will be in action again on Jan. 16 hosting Bismarck Legacy at 7:30 p.m.

Jamestown broke the ice early against the Demons. Senior captain John Belzer made good on an assist from Braxton Burkett 68 seconds into the first period.

"It was nice to get that first goal out of the way really early," JHS head coach Jake Stilwell said. "We were a little snake-bit last game so to get the monkey off the back was big."

By the end of the first period, the Jays were leading 3-1 thanks to goals scored by Burkett and Parker Roelfsema. Roelfsema scored twice more in the second period to make it 5-2 entering the final frame.

The three goal deficit forced Bismarck High to do something.

"They pushed back really well in the third period and took it to us a little bit," Stilwell said of the Demons. "We did a solid just slowing the game down and taking care of (goalie) (Leif Hanson) after that third goal. We needed our producers to have a bounce back game and produce and they did just that tonight. Fun road win for sure."
