Feb. 5—JAMESTOWN — Minot's trip to the Jamestown High School pool didn't go so well.

Jamestown edged out Minot on Thursday evening, defeating the Magicians 93-90. JHS Head coach Ben Smith and his crew will be back at the Birdbath on Friday hosting West Fargo Horace. The dual is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.

The Blue Jays picked up eight first-place finishes against the Magicians, the first being the 200 yard freestyle. Finn Moser clocked a time of 1:48.08 in the race. The sophomore also won the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:02.71.

Kaden Fabian won the 50 and 100 yard freestyle contests with times of 22.70 and 50.65 respectively. Tyler Klabo's performances in the 100 butterfly and the 100 breaststroke earned him 12 points.

The Blue Jay girls hockey team found themselves up 3-1 against West Fargo United on Thursday.

It didn't take long for things to change.

The Blue Jays dropped 7-3 to West Fargo. Currently, the Blue Jays are sitting in the No. 9 spot in the state standings at 4-12-1 on the season. The team will be back in action on Feb. 6 at Grand Forks at 7 p.m.

After Bailey Skarphol scored the ice-breaking goal on Thursday, the Blue Jays' offense began to buzz. Izzy Maddock and Maddy Roaldson made good on chances at the 10:28 and 12:34 marks of the opening period.

Anna Lunde scored the Jays' third goal of the night at the 1:13 mark of the second frame. Jamestown goalie, Ady Bakalar made 22 saves off 29 shots faced.
