Feb. 7—JAMESTOWN — Any time you go 2-0 on the weekend, it is a good feeling.
After defeating Dickinson 6-1 on Friday night, head coach Jake Stilwell and the Jamestown High School boys hockey team had about 19 hours to recover and get ready for Bismarck High.
Evidently, that was enough time to get ready.
The Blue Jays picked up a Senior Day win on Saturday afternoon, topping the Demons 4-0. Jamestown will be back in action on Feb. 10 at Bismarck Century. The puck is scheduled to drop at 7:30 p.m. at Bismarck's VFW Center.
Senior Bennett Goehner broke the ice in Saturday's matchup, netting the first goal at the 3:11 mark of the first period. Goehner's goal was assisted by Braxton Burkett and Brady Anderson.
Parker Roelfsema got moving in the second period and produced a score nine seconds into the second period to give the Jays a 2-0 advantage. Jamestown's lead extended to three when Gavin Schafer made good on the assist from Brady Nenow with 5:15 left to play in the middle frame.
Burkett put the final nail in the coffin in the third period. The junior's goal was assisted by Belzer and Roelfsema. The Blue Jays outshot the Demons 41-17. Leif Hanson made all 17 saves for the Jays.
