honestly at this point I think it would be nice to just KNOW or receive some sort of update from the organization on BJ and others. I think thats what is so frustrating.
Conspiracy brain says they are keeping the Ojulari speak to a hush because they want to de-emphasize what a garbage 2nd round pick it was.

I don’t think that’s the case. I think they like the Edge group they have and they can stash Beej for up to five weeks before putting him into practices. Same with Nolen.

I’m sure they feel like they’re better off keeping him in reserve until they need him than waiving Xavier Thomas or something.

I hope you're right. I really liked the pick at the time, but man, how long do we have to hold out hope on this guy???

The Rams have TWO guys that were drafted AFTER BJ Ojulari in the 2023 draft that have at least 18 sacks each.

Byron Young - 20.5 sacks
Kobie Turner - 18 sacks
What we should have done is figured out who is running the Rams scouting operation and hire them. They're so much better at drafting than us it's not even funny.

What was even the rationale behind Monti? That he was a shining star in Tennessee? That he was part of the New England zombie days?

I believe the rationale was he was cheaper than the guy we initially lowballed from Chicago.

To speak nothing of going after a football mind from a great powerhouse like… Chicago, in the first place.

You are right, I remembered wrong. My point remains. Aiyuk still is unlikely to play this season. Every player heals differently and all injuries are different. The Cardinals refuse to be transparent with injuries and it leads to way too much speculation. Just like with Kyler, he was practicing and reports were he was ready weeks before he played. Based the player, not the person.

On a side note, why are you always so aggressive? I made a mistake and admitted it, but you always come out guns a blazing. Its just football.
You think he’s going to miss TWO SEASONS for an ACL?!?

there is something weird going on with BJ

the cynical me says he may not love football and is happy to be paid to rehab this year

the org could come out and say something like: BJs injury was more serious than the average ACL, so his recovery will likely take a bit more time.

instead we get: Q: Will BJ play this year? Gannon: Thats a hypothetical.

WTF??

really??
Damn.....
dude has actually played more than I thought
Its fun to crap in someone who tore all three ligaments in thier knee, which does take longer to come back from. Aiyuk has the same injury, happened mid season and is most likely missing this entire season.

Btw, Justin Jones (DT) isn't expected to play this year. He'll have made $19 million from the Cardinals when the season is done in exactly 100 snaps. That's 190,000 a snap. But let's focus on BJ and his $12,000.

Even the speculating beat writers you linked to said it’s 50/50. That’s actually not “most likely.”

You can read how you want to read it, but I'm reading this as he's most likely not playing.

"I mean, I'm pretty confident that he is going to eventually," Shanahan said of Aiyuk's return. "At least open up his practice window. We talk about it being week-to-week right now, so still waiting until he is ready.”

The good news is Shanahan is maintaining that Aiyuk is week-to-week and expressing confident he's going to have his practice window opened. The bad news is that the head coach is at least putting the idea in the ether that Aiyuk's practice window opening may not guarantee he'll be on the field this season.

is bandwagon for the first couple years... but damn...seems like dude is milking it. most guys would have just taken a settlement and retired.
hopefully that indicates some sort of burning passion for football because I dont think dude is getting paid right??
I dunno..his youth is a benefit. but by the time he gets on the field and shows what he can do it will be time for a new contract....and one has to wonder if its even smart to sign him to a minimum contract given the history
