If your defense hasn't forced an appearance by the opposing teams punter in 10 drives.. you may have an issue.

Why not more blitzing?? we don't stop anyone anyway.. whats the risk?
At least if you get burned deep on a blitz, the D can get off the field faster.

as someone else mentioned, keep him as LB coach. but go spend some money on a defensive guru. this is what is keeping the cardinals from the great category and why we get no respect. defense is way to inconsistent and a lot has to fall on Davis's shoulder.

That was me. Both Dansby and Hayes had what I consider their best seasons when Davis became LB coach in 2007. Both guys' production fell off when Bill became DC. With all of our linebackers gone or over 30 next year the Cards must shore up the coaching at that position.

Meanwhile going with family friends and rookies as defensive coordinators just won't work. The Cards HAVE to go get somebody with a great resume.

No presure from the edges will make any DC look bad

But, Bucky, isn't no pressure the DC's problem?

Oh well I'm used to it. Neither the Cards nor the Longhorns have played much defense in big games for years now.

This could be the worst defense I've seen in the playoffs. I love this team and I know we have decent athletes but for whatever reason they are sucking ass

Seeing how well Toler is playing, I have a major gripe about him not replacing Adams or McFadden last week.

Somewhat, but I just cant see blitzing every play like other 3-4 teams do because we basically have one solid DB who's good in man to man. The last 2 weeks finally exposed this D for what it is. Sometimes its not about sacks, but consistant pressure. Tough way to go down today.

It is the worst defense in the history of the NFL playoffs. They have now given up 83 points in the two games. An NFL record.

Whiz had the nuts to fire a DC after making it all the way to the Super Bowl, if he keeps Bill Davis after this, credibility shredded.

There is no way in hell that can happen without seriously damanging Whiz's credibility in my eyes, no way.

If they keep Davis it will be a simple matter of his contract not being run out and if that MO is allowed to infest this team then we're not in a good place.

He needs to be gone.

We need someone who can teach this secondary the basic fundamentals of man coverage so they dont have to play soft zones

We need a better secondary. DRC is the only corner worth a damn on this team and Toler looks like he may be something but its still not a certain. We NEED better depth than Mike Adams and Ralph Brown. Two guys I REALLY want for depth is Phillips Buchannon (Det) and/or Fabian Washington (Bal). Both lightning fast and pretty decent at covering and both potential free agents. WAY better coverage corners than either of the backups we have now.

Whiz can't lose credibility with me so if he doesn't fire Davis there is a reason and it ain't who's in his calling circle. CP had 2 years to suck and we have only given Davis one year and his collapse was in the playoffs.

This and make a freakin ope4n field tackle.

We have had such crappy luck with FA CBs lately. Duane Starks, Roderick Hood and Bryant McFadden are most notable.

I'm not confident we will get a good one because guys like Buchannon and Washington will either be retained by their team or get big bucks from someone else. Not how Graves and co. does business.

I'd rather groom potential talent like Toler to be our #2 starter.

McFadden should be downgraded to #3.

Adams at #4 (he had his moments this season and is good in special teams)

Let Ralph Brown walk. He is way past his prime and his lack of speed really hinders his ability to cover deep routes.

This seems like a more realistic situation.

On the conversation about Bill Davis. It is my opinion we should go in a different direction. There is a lot of questions regarding talent on Defense, but we have some great players. I think it is a combination of scheme and some players trying to do to much.

What we really need is a proven defensive coordinator that can take over games. We need to get the defense up to the level of the offense and soon so we can prepare to be more of a smash mouth type team.

We have some great players but we have a HUGE need in an area that the 3-4 is reliant upon - OLB. If you want to run a 3-4 scheme, its an absolute must that you can get a consistent pass rush from the outside. Otherwise you are forced to blitz more and if a team picks them up (like today), your secondary - especially a banged up one - is in for a world of hurt.

However we desperately need to have someone teach our guys how to tackle on a consistent basis. The tackling fundamentals the past few weeks have been absolutely dreadful

Amen.

I watch other NFL games, when we lose the ability to tackle it's like lost in space lost.

I've never in my life seen some of the amazing whiffs we have, on the one long Reggie Bush run their was one guy who looked as if he was shot by a gun in mid play his attempt to tackle was so bad.

What was that ? I saw the same thing and it looked like Campbell took a really bad angle. Also nice wrap up by the CB Bryan M
