GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – The Packers financial report is out and there’s a lot to unpack.

On Friday afternoon, the Packers released their financial report for the latest fiscal year which runs from April 1, 2025 until March 31, 2026. The Packers are the only publicly-owned franchise in the NFL and that’s why they release their financial reports while other franchises generally keep the numbers a secret.

Record Revenue for the Green & Gold

The Packers report a record $753 million in revenue for the 2025-2026 fiscal year.

Pacers president and CEO Ed Policy said large television deals led to increased national revenue compared to the previous fiscal year. He said he’s especially proud that local revenue also increased year-to-year despite the fact that the Packers only had eight home games this season.

“The Packers remain in very solid financial footing, we’re in a very strong position, we’ve got a very strong balance sheet,” Policy said.

He cautioned though that it’s becoming more and more competitive and expensive to do business in this league.

Expenses actually exceeded revenues

The Packers weren’t afraid to spend money. Their expenses went up by nearly 19 percent this last fiscal year compared to the one before.

Policy said a lot of this spending went towards building their roster. Micah Parsons’ substantial contract is now on the books and the Packers also accelerated payments to players they traded away

“I think we have shown through these financials that we are going to invest whatever it takes to field a championship caliber team,” Policy said.

Packers have challenges

It’s not easy being the NFL’s only publicly-owned franchise in the league’s smallest city.

“Other teams have access to capital sources that we don’t have access to right now,” Policy said. “Whether that’s selling a portion of the team to private equity or high net worth individuals, whether that’s public investment in their stadiums or it’s just by virtue of having a billionaire owner.”

Policy said to compensate they’re pursuing additional avenues to generate revenue in the future.

He said they want to host more events at Lambeau Field with everything from concerts, soccer matches, and college football games on the table as possibilities. He even teased that a big winter event could come to Lambeau.

They are also seeking sponsorship and naming right opportunities for places like Titletown and their practice facilities. Policy emphasized that they won’t be renaming Lambeau Field though.

He also said they will look at their ticket pricing strategy. Policy said the goal would be to have ticket prices be around the league average.

Packers keeping an eye on SBA

An existential crisis.

That’s how Policy described how they would view it if the sports broadcasting act ever gets changed. The act allows the NFL to negotiate its own television contracts and then share the revenue between the 32 teams. Packers officials say it levels the playing field for the small market teams.

Politicians have recently begun reviewing the Sports Broadcasting Act arguing it gives the NFL an unfair ability to sign these exclusive deals with cable channels and streaming services that can then charge fans large amounts to watch the game.

“In the long term, I do feel good, but I do feel like there are some trends and we talked about some of those that can pose a threat to our long-term financial health,” Policy said.
