CHALMETTE, La. — The Holy Cross Tigers open the 2026 regular season with an 11-1 win over Chalmette on Monday night.

The Tigers run-ruled the Owls in 5 innings.

A wild pitch in the bottom of the first inning allowed Chalmette to score its first and only run of the game. From that point on, it was all Holy Cross.

The Tigers’ offense exploded for 7 of their 11 runs in the top of the third, giving Holy Cross the separation it needed to post the opening-day win. Greg Ruiz drove in three runs in the frame.

Holy Cross is back in action later this week for a three-game series with Archbishop Shaw. Game one is set for Thursday.
