TCU baseball nabbed commitments from two Saint Mary’s players on Monday. In addition to junior outfielder Tanner Griffith, the Horned Frogs are adding junior left-handed pitcher Cam Staton, who posted a 4-3 record with a 3.78 ERA during the 2026 season. Staton made 20 appearances, including seven starts, striking out 66 batters and walking 33 over 66.2 innings pitched. Opposing batters hit .244 against Staton, an Auburn, California native who started his career at Sierra College before transferring to Saint Mary’s for his junior season.
Staton made 18 appearances and 17 starts during his sophomore season in 2025. The lefty went 7-2 with a 3.32 ERA and 1.19 WHIP while striking out 113 batters over 95 innings pitched. Staton, who played his high school baseball at Placer, was named First-Team All-Conference and First-Team All-NorCal in 2025, when Sierra went 33-16 and 15-9 in conference play. Staton, who didn’t play in 2024, arrives with one year of eligibility left.
