Baseball: Tennessee LHP Taylor Tracey commits to TCU

TCU baseball’s red-hot recruitment in the transfer portal continued Tuesday afternoon, when Jamie Plunkett of Horned Frog Blitz reported that the Horned Frogs added Tennessee left-handed pitcher and former elite two-way high school prospect Taylor Tracey. The freshman from Austin, Texas made 15 appearances and five starts on the mound during his first season with the Volunteers, posting a 3.26 ERA with 28 strikeouts and 15 walks over 19.1 innings pitched. The 6-foot-6, 205-pounder was listed as a pitcher and an outfield on Tennessee’s roster.

NEWS: #TCU has landed a commitment from Tennessee LHP/OF Taylor Tracey.

Tracey struck out 28 in 19.1 innings of work in 2026, and was rated as the No. 1 OF from TX in the 2025 recruiting class by Perfect Game.

Tracey held opposing batters to a .171 average during his freshman season. As a high-schooler, Tracey played at Dripping Springs, where he was ranked the No. 1 outfield prospect in the state of Texas. In his final high school season, Tracey led Dripping Springs to the Class 6A D2 state semifinals and was named Mr. Austin Baseball after recording a 10-0 record and an 0.38 ERA with 111 strikeouts on the mound. He also hit .445 with 22 RBIs. His father Kevin played baseball at Texas Tech and his grandfather played baseball at Oregon State.
