Florida State baseball did not have a good weekend, going winless in its last four games. With a loss to the Florida Gators and being swept by No. 2 Georgia Tech, it has pushed FSU back considerably. With an overall record of 24-11 and a conference record of 9-6, the Seminoles have taken a step back amidst their quest to get to the College World Series and win it.
Baseball America's top 25 rankings did not take too kindly to these losses, as in their rankings, Florida State is now at No. 13 in the country, an eight-spot fall.
Last week, Florida State was ranked No. 5 nationally. Now, they are sandwiched between No. 12 Coastal Carolina (26-9, 13-2 Sun Belt) and No. 14 Arkansas (24-13, 8-7 SEC). The ACC has five ranked teams in the updated poll, with Florida State holding onto the second-best ACC team.
Their upcoming schedule is a bit easier than the gauntlet they just emerged from. The Seminoles are 16-3 when they are at home, and their season continues when they welcome the Stetson Hatters to Tallahassee, followed by a three-game series against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Fans can catch the former game on Tuesday at 6 p.m. ET on the ACC Network Extra.
