Auburn right-hander announces plans to enter the transfer portal

Right-handed pitcher Malayna Tamborra announced her plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal after three seasons with Auburn on Monday, June 15, via her social accounts.

Now entering her senior season, Tamborra has elected to enter the transfer portal. The three seasons on the Plains, she recorded 36 appearances for the Tigers. She earned 2023-2024 First-Year SEC Academic Honor Roll and 2025 Spring SEC Academic Honor Roll during her time playing for the Tigers.

This previous season saw her finish with a 2-0 record in the circle with one earned start. The Marietta, Georgia native tossed 12.0 innings and recorded seven strikeouts.

Her sophomore season saw her earn four starts inside the circle. Tamborra tossed 23.2 innings and had a 1-0 record. That season she made her first collegiate start in the season opener against Southern Illinois. Later that season, Tamborra would start her first SEC contest against a No. 4 Tennessee tossing two scoreless innings.

Brought in for relief nine times her freshman season, she tossed 19.1 innings. She made her SEC debut against a No. 12 Missouri, where she tossed a scoreless inning of relief and recorded her first college strikeout.

Originally recruited out Mount Paran in Marietta, Georgia. She was seen as the No. 10 recruit in the nation by Extra Inning Softball. Tamborra earned all-county and all-region honors while being a two-time County Player of the Year.
