Georgia State senior transfer right-handed pitcher Makayla Stephens has joined Auburn softball through the transfer portal, she announced Tuesday, June 16, on X.
The Kennesaw, Georgia native spent three seasons with the Panthers. Stephens made the 2026 NFCA All-South Region Third Team and All-Sun Belt Second Team this previous season.
She appeared in 42 games with a total of 30 starts made inside the circle. She ended her junior season 18-13, 225 strikeouts, and recorded a 2.61 ERA over 195.2 innings tossed. Stephens finished seventh in the conference for strikeouts.
In her freshman and sophomore seasons, she made a total of 46 appearances. Originally, she was recruited out of Kennesaw Mountain High School, where she brought home the Pitcher of the Year award in 2019.
The Tigers now bring in an ace to their 2026-27 pitching staff to complement Ella Harrison, following the departures of SJ Geurin and Malayna Tamborra from the staff. Auburn will enter its third year under the coaching duo of Chris and Kate Malveaux.
