Auburn baseball is using the "if it's not broke, don't fix it" approach to its weekend pitching rotation.

Auburn will use the same rotation as it has for the previous three weekend series' for its weekend set with Winthrop at Plainsman Park beginning Friday. Auburn will trot Jake Marciano out to start Friday night's opener, and will follow with Jackson Sanders on Saturday and Alex Petrovic in Sunday afternoon's finale.

Auburn is 8-1 in weekend games this season, with its lone blemish coming last Friday to Nebraska in extra-inning fashion. In the game, Jake Marciano allowed two earned runs on five hits in five innings of work, when he faced a season-high 21 batters. In three starts, Marciano is 1-0 with a 1.69 ERA and 29 strikeouts. He struck out a season-best 12 strikeouts in his debut against Youngstown State on Feb. 13, and has struck out at least eight batters in each start, and has yet to allow a walk.

Sanders returns to the mound Saturday after striking out six batters and walking one in Saturday's 15-4 win over Nebraska. He struck out five of his six batters in the first three innings before giving up a pair of two-run home runs in the 4th and 5th innings. Like Marciano, Sanders will also be seeking his second win of the season on Saturday.

Alex Petrovic produced another solid outing in Sunday's finale against Nebraska. He struck out seven batters in five innings while walking two and allowing an earned run in the 12-3 win, and was the pitcher of record, earning his third win of the season. Petrovic is fourth among Auburn starting pitchers in strikeouts with 21 entering the weekend, and boasts the second-lowest ERA among starters at 2.40.
