Portland (1-2) defeated Carolina (2-1), 12-4 in five innings, Thursday in a series finale at Smith Family Stadium in Durham, North Carolina. The Blaze won the three-game series, 2-1, to open the 2026 AUSL season.

Game 3 featured one former Tennessee softball player. Aubrey Leach started at second base for Carolina. She went 1-for-3 and recorded one RBI.

During the opening series of the season against the Cascade, the former Lady Vol went 2-for-10 and recorded two RBIs, one run, one walk, one stolen base and two total bases.

Leach played for the Lady Vols from 2016-19 and was an All-America infielder. She joined Tennessee's coaching staff as a graduate assistant in 2021 and was promoted to director of player development in 2024.

Carolina will next play on Saturday versus Texas. First pitch between the Blaze and Volts is scheduled for noon EDT at Smith Family Stadium. ESPN will televise the series opener.
