Ok, I can buy that if they were in the Big 12 but they are not.

I have seen a lot of BAD ASU losses since 1977 when I went to my first game. But nothing quite like this and it really a huge amount of fault of the coaches. That last defensive play they willingly put out the ONLY scenario they could lose in regulation which was a bomb over the top. Sure, I understand wanting to go for the kill, whatever, but cooler heads have to prevail. Hell, rush 2 and drop nine in coverage and if they get it in FG range, ok. It's not a gimme, they don't even have a great kicker.

And in case you want even more bad news .... Texas St will not be a cupcake.
I was at the Missouri game in 77 and that was about as depressed as a sporting event has ever made me. And yes, Texas State is not a gimme.

Yeah, whoever keeps calling that sellout blitz needs to be seriously thinking about where their next employment will be. Once, under the most critical situation imaginable, was foolish. But now twice, costing them their last two losses, is straight idiocy.

One more time and they have to be out the door... and I don't care if it's the head coach or the DC or whoever. We had better never see that stupid defensive call again.

There were more depressing losses for sure. The only redeeming facts of this loss is it's game 2 of the season and non-conference.

I don’t know much about Texas St this season but last year they gave ASU everything they could handle and it was a hard fought win.

This loss definitely falls on coaching. The busted coverage due to the blitz not getting there was terrible but the problems started on that goal line stand…especially 3rd down

After watching them play poorly against NAU, I felt that they were over-rated and would lose to Miss State. They had magic last year with Skatteboo and will just be an average team. All the hype on Levitt being a Heisman candidate was ridiculous as he showed today he is nothing special.

Fine and dandy to run it down the field on last drive. But at one point in first and goal a play action pass or rolllout would have been a good call especially on second down IMO. You did it for the first touchdown? Have the TE block down then release for a pass. A little creativity wouldn’t hurt. Now on the decision for that ridiculous defensive call with 30 seconds to go? I’m not a D1 DC but that would have been the last thought going through my head to leave our CBs one on one again? I don’t want to hear KD or any coach say the player messed it up. We were out coached again for a lot of that game.

Yes, it was. I pointed out last week that one of the problems against NAU was short yardage. Both on offense and defense. And they did great running the ball on that drive. They took the ball out of Sam's hands which was smart. But when it got to that last yard they couldn't do it. The Cardinals had issues in the same situation the last couple of years.

This is what I see as arrogance or cockiness by this staff. It was "We are going to smash it down your throat and prove we are bigger and badder than a SEC team" instead of "just score a TD". Obviously it was time to use Leavitt's legs at least once as he is your most dynamic runner. But no, pride took over and it cost us.

And there’s something seriously off with the offense. Sam looks horrible, granted, our o-line is essentially Swiss cheese… but there is no flow, no rhythm, no connection. It’s as if they’ve never played or practiced with one another.

Sure hope Kenny can get this fixed asap, otherwise, this is gonna be a long and extremely disappointing season.

The problem is now this has been 2 games with the same sort of issues. We are in trend territory. Unlike some, I don’t think it is a Skatebo issue. The RBs were not really the issue last night. It was Leavitt and coaching. The defense played well enough, even with their two blown coverages, for ASU to win if Leavitt is just competent.

Hey, ASU, folks. MSU graduate and lifelong fan here. Great game. You guys have a good team. Really stout offensive line. I think maybe your QB tried to do a little too much in the first half. The second half should be the game plan moving forward, albeit maybe throw a few passes in there once the defense is committed to the run, IMO. I’m not sure about that officiating. Some pretty bad calls that went for us (and some against us), but that seems to be the case in most games.

Mississippi State needed that game. That’s pretty obvious looking at our record last year and the fact that we stormed the field! Maybe we can build off of that and get to six wins this year, and maybe get back to being a competitive team again. Good luck the rest of the season. I actually became a low key ASU fan after your game against Texas last year. I’ll be pulling for you guys in the rest of your games. But for now….I hope you don’t mind, because it must be said…

Hail State!

And again, good luck the rest of the season.

I guess we need to root for Miss State the rest of the year to make the loss look better, but I don't think it will matter much.

I can tell you it did not help us much last year rooting for Arizona State, as we still finished 2 and 10. I don’t recommend becoming a MSU fan in any capacity. That’s a recipe for disappointment with a few brief moments of jubilation sprinkled in.

Welcome. I'm not an SEC fan, but I'll be rooting for you guys.

You guys have an unbelievable game day experience and that certainly was a true home field advantage.

Good luck to State the rest of the year!

This rings true also with being an Arizona fan in any sports capacity in any league or level. Lol. Ugh.

I don’t think it was pride. I think it was the fact that they just rammed it down MSU’s throat the entire way down the field and they just got too locked into its success. The endzone is the shortest field possible. By definition it is going to be the most congested. To not try something else was more stupidity than stubbornness imo. Same with the leaving cbs on an island. It wasn’t pride or hubris, it was stupidity. To see that on both sides of the ball in crucial situations is concerning.
