While a FG would have sucked to tie the game you CANNOT under any circumstance allow guys to run that wide open one v one. Play prevent and force a kick especially with the time remaining. I sure hope KD didn’t call that blitz he certainly should have over ridden it. Still makes stupid late game decisions

That's been a weakness of Dillingham since he got here. He's very random about when he goes conservative and when he opts for the reckless approach. It bit them at the end of the playoff game, and almost killed them against BYU, too.

They are really bad. They were just so so last year, but definitely looking like a dropoff so far this year. Other teams will be taking advantage of that.
I think this team is slightly better than we were expected to be in 2024. And without Skattebo's 262 yards ASU would have lost to Mississippi State last year too. So, to me, 3 to 5 wins looks to be the best we can hope for.

They clearly can’t handle any trickery by opposing WRs

Yeah, he pissed me off last game with what I thought were some arrogant decisions and now it firmly bit him in the ass. To leave a DB out on an island at the point of the game is total hubris. It disrespects the opponent.

And we should not fool ourselves about Mississippi St. They are not going to a bowl, they will not win more than two more times maybe three if they run into some coaching as bad as ASU in the lead up to this game.

This appeared to be a very unprepared team for the vast majority of the game. Also, it appeared to me the they had absolutely no faith in this receiver core minus one person.

All true.

To be fair, I think if you pick up that MSU team and drop them into the Big12, they are probably a bowl team…actually I shouldn’t hedge…they would be a bowl team in that conference because most of the teams are the same. Just like ASU

Ok, I can buy that if they were in the Big 12 but they are not.

I have seen a lot of BAD ASU losses since 1977 when I went to my first game. But nothing quite like this and it really a huge amount of fault of the coaches. That last defensive play they willingly put out the ONLY scenario they could lose in regulation which was a bomb over the top. Sure, I understand wanting to go for the kill, whatever, but cooler heads have to prevail. Hell, rush 2 and drop nine in coverage and if they get it in FG range, ok. It's not a gimme, they don't even have a great kicker.

And in case you want even more bad news .... Texas St will not be a cupcake.

Sigh… having eaten that pupu platter, we all know tonight was only the appetizer. Tomorrow morning the Cardinals will serve us the breakfast ish-sandwich we all know’s coming next.
