STARKVILLE — The latest NCAA Tournament projections no longer predict Mississippi State baseball to host a regional.
D1Baseball and Baseball America's projections on May 24 both have the Bulldogs as a No. 2 seed. Oregon jumped them in the D1Baseball projection, while Arkansas took MSU's spot in the Baseball America projection.
The 16 regional hosts will be announced May 24 at approximately 7:30 p.m. before the full bracket reveal during the selection show on May 25 (11 a.m., ESPN2).
D1Baseball has Mississippi State (40-17) as a No. 2 seed in No. 16 national seed West Virginia's regional. Baseball America also has MSU in West Virginia's regional, but with the Mountaineers as the No. 14 national seed.
Mississippi State was projected to host by both outlets after losing to Georgia in the SEC Tournament quarterfinals on May 21. Coach Brian O'Connor also said he expected MSU to host a regional.
D1Baseball cited Oregon's 12-9 record in Quad 1 games and 17-10 combined record in Quads 1 and 2; Mississippi State is 9-14 in Quad 1 and 13-17 in Quads 1 and 2.
The Ducks (40-15) are three spots behind MSU in RPI at No. 15 but are playing in the Big Ten Tournament championship game May 24 against UCLA.

Baseball America cited Arkansas' better SEC record than Mississippi State. The Razorbacks (39-19) have a 20-13 aggregate SEC record, won two of three games against Mississippi State in March and are playing in the SEC Tournament championship game against Georgia.
Arkansas is 18-12 in Quad 1 games, but it does have five losses in Quads 3 and 4. MSU has no Quad 3 and 4 losses for a higher RPI at No. 12. Arkansas is No. 21 before the SEC championship.
Mississippi State hasn't hosted a regional at Dudy Noble Field since 2021, the year it won its only national championship.
