The Arizona Cardinals held tryouts for five players on Tuesday, the day before reporting to training camp. They brought in two punters and three defensive linemen.

Per the NFL transaction report, these were Arizona's tryouts:

  • P Jack Browning
  • P Brad Robbins
  • DL Kameron Hamilton
  • DL Coziah Izzard
  • DL Jaquelin Roy

Browning punted and handled kickoff duties for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2024 for five games.

Robbins was the punter for the Cincinnati Bengals in 2023, was injured in 2024 and punted one game for the Buffalo Bills last season.

Hamilton is a rookie free agent who played collegiately at Tulane for four seasons from 2022-2025.

Izzard spent time in 2025 as an undrafted rookie on the New Orleans Saints' practice squad. He played collegiately for Penn State from 2020-2024.

Roy spent all last season on injured reserve with the New England Patriots. He was a 2023 fifth-round draft pick of the Minnesota Vikings, and played for them for one season and six games in 2024 for the Patriots.

What do the tryouts mean?

The positions of the guys they brought in suggest there are some depth problems.

Punter Blake Gillikin, re-signed this offseason after missing the final 12 games of last season with a back injury, was presumed to be healthy, but perhaps he needs to take it easy still. Also, perhaps they are simply making sure they have a backup plan if Gillikin re-injures himself.

We know that rookie Kaleb Proctor will miss a lot of time with a knee injury. If it is bad enough, they might already place him on injured reserve, meaning a roster spot would be freed up.

Any addition would require the Cardinals to cut a player or end his season on a reserve list.
