The Arizona Cardinals report to training camp on July 22 and begin the process of preparing for the regular season, forming the roster and determining starting jobs and roles on the team.
Leading up to the start of camp, we will take a look at every player on the offseason roster, their background, their contract, their play in 2025, questions they face and their roster outlook.
Here is linebacker Jack Gibbens.
Gibbens enters his fifth NFL season and first with the Cardinals. He entered the league as a rookie free agent out of Minnesota, signing with the Tennessee Titans. He spent three seasons with the Titans, playing in 29 games, starting 20. He started 13 of 14 games in 2023 and had 95 total tackles, a sack, three tackles for loss and three pass breakups.
Last season, he joined the New England Patriots, playing in all 17 games, starting eight. He had 81 total tackles, eight tackles for loss, three quarterback hits, a sack, four pass breakups, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
He played 491 snaps on defense and 281 on special teams.
He signed a two-year contract worth $7.5 million this offseason. He received a $2 million signing bonus and will earn a fully guaranteed $2 million salary. His cap hit in 2026 will be more than $3.7 million.
Gibbens is a lock to make the roster. He will battle Cody Simon for a starting job alongside Mack Wilson. He will at least have the role that Akeem Davis-Gaither had, playing some on defense and a lot on special teams.
Can he beat out Simon, or will his impact be limited mostly to special teams?
