The Arizona Cardinals filled another offseason need in free agency on Monday. The team announced that linebacker Jack Gibbens, formerly with the Tennessee Titans and New England Patriots, signed a two-year contract.

Gibbens was a restricted free agent the Patriots decided not to tender.

After three seasons in Tennessee, in 2025, his only season in New England, he played in 17 games and started eight in a rotational linebacker role. He had a total of 81 tackles, eight tackles for loss, a sack, three quarterback hits, four pass breakups, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery in 491 defensive snaps.

He also played 281 snaps on special teams.

He projects to fill the role that Akeem Davis-Gaither had last season, playing alongside Mack Wilson. Davis-Gaither also played a lot on special teams, leading the team with 20 total special teams tackles.

The difference with Gibbens is that this contract likely will come in at far less than the two years and $10 million the Cardinals signed Davis-Gaither for a year ago.

The Patriots didn't want to commit $3.5 million to Gibbens with a restricted free agent tender. We will get contract numbers in the next few days, but we can probably expect his deal to come in at about $5 million total.

Gibbens will now create competition for Cody Simon to start alongside Mack Wilson in 2026.
