Can’t agree on McCaffrey. He was excellent last week. He’s still a top, impact player. If the Cards don’t stop him, he’ll hurt them big time.
This is exactly the type game where in previous years a fading back like CMC will go off for about 200 yards total against us.

The questions is, is the JG/NR version of the Cardinals going to allow that to happen?

Or are we going to fly around a little bit on Sunday? Maybe knock CMC on his @ss a couple of times?
I'm a little skeptical on Mack Wilson and ADG keeping up with CMC. 249 yards from scrimmage on the year seems pretty good.

If you have injuries to your starting CBs, and then don't sign a vet CB to bolster the room...that is a choice.

That choice was having Burke, Clark, and E Jones as CBs 4, 5, and 6. Now we will see the end result of that choice.

The CB news was the best we could have hoped for. Since we're probably getting our starters back at some point, I'm comfortable with just sticking with our drafted depth guys.

What are the chances a vet who hasn't practiced with a team since last season having more to contribute...or even being in game shape? I don't think it would have mattered much at all for the next 2 games, TBH.

Why are “veteran” CBs are immune to getting embarrassed just as bad as the young CBs?

They are on the market for a reason.
I think Clark will be okay. Burke is more of a worry but it's Friday and that is who we are rolling with.

Cards starters started and played a little in preseason this year,
And first 2 games looked like it, still look and coach still saying that he expects a big jump game to game in the early regular season. That’s my complaint compared to say when I started watching Leroy Kelley and the browns in say 1969. Those guys were ready opening day in a 12 game season. Still matters , still don’t think the teams are prepared for peak performance until after the 4th regular season game, and every game matters. It is by choice, and it’s a poor choice, compared to my time in the army. Where you’re dead if you are not prepared at the start, and may be dead anyway against a veteran enemy.
Mac jones had more playing time then purely in the preseason, muscle memory, crisp response, of course a good punch in the face erases that! But wanted to point that out, that hesitation that Kyler has before pulling the trigger, or running ,hurts the cards. This is noners starter in the preseason. Ai version

The San Francisco 49ers' starters played limited snaps in their preseason games, following coach Kyle Shanahan's strategy to prioritize player safety and avoid injuries.

Preseason Game 1 against the Denver Broncos:
• No starters played, with second-string players and backups taking the field.

Preseason Game 2 against the Las Vegas Raiders:
• Quarterback Brock Purdy played for a few series, getting some snaps after signing his new contract.
• Tight end George Kittle was expected to participate in at least one series to get into rhythm before the season.
• Wide receiver Ricky Pearsall likely played alongside Purdy, and most of the offensive line saw action with caution around Trent Williams due to his age and injury risk.

Regular Season:
Now, with the regular season underway, Mac Jones is expected to start against the Arizona Cardinals, while Brock Purdy's status remains questionable due to his injury .

So they confirmed Jones will start, not sure if Purdy is active or not.

Weather won't be an issue been a bit cooler but supposed to be about 80 for the game no rain so should be a good day to play.

saleh has made a big difference on defense so far and Bosa seems as healthy as he has been in awhile off to a very good start.

Hopefully this is the game the run blocking improves so we can use some play action

Rallis has no choice but to scheme pressure. If he leaves these CBs exposed, it will be death to our defense.

i could give Monti the benefit of the doubt right after the draft. Even after SMB went down.

but he went through camp and the staff learned that E Jones isnt ready. Burke wasnt completely ready.

that was probably time to add a vet.

Not enough carries of course but at least the early returns on Benson are looking good. Averaging 3.4 yards after contact and has a 27% missed tackle rate both among the best in the NFL so far. Of course most of the ypc number is the one big run but even the other runs he's getting yards after contact. That was what he did in college so it's good to see it carrying over.

Hopefully tomorrow is the day for both he and Conner, need to get them enough room to get going. Every year I say Conner looks slow and then he has a great year but he does look slow so far this year
