The Arizona Cardinals have an extra preseason game this year. The league announced that the Cardinals, along with the Carolina Panthers, will participate in this year's Hall of Fame Game.

It makes sense, as Larry Fitzgerald, who played of his 17 NFL seasons for the Cardinals, and Luke Kuechly, who played all eight years of his NFL career with the Panthers, were both inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame last month.

The game will be Thursday, Aug. 6 at 8 p.m. ET (5 p.m. Arizona time) at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio. The game will air on NBC.

This will be an extra exhibition game for the Cardinals, in addition to their three regular preseason games. The Hall of Fame Game kicks off the NFL preseason.

It will be the sixth time the Cardinals have played in the Hall of Fame Game and first since facing the Dallas Cowboys in 2017.

Being in the Hall of Fame Game means the Cardinals will open training camp a little earlier than the rest of the league.

It will kick off the weekend of events, leading to the enshrinement ceremony on Saturday, Aug. 8.

For Cardinals fans, while preseason football isn't exactly gripping football, it does mean fans will get some extra football and get it a week earlier than normal.
