Jun. 26—TABOR, S.D. — It took extra innings to claim a winner between the Menno Mad Frogs and Tabor Bluebirds in South Central League amateur baseball action on Thursday night.
After trailing 4-1 heading into the top of the eighth inning, Menno scored three runs, highlighted by an RBI-double from Nick Ratzloff and Connor Merriam to tie it up at 4-all. From there, the game went into a 10th inning where the Mad Frogs plated two runs via a wild pitch and error from the Bluebirds in the top half of the frame, plus an RBI single from Ratzloff to take a 3-run lead and hang on to win 7-4.
Menno was paced offensively by Dylan Lehr's 3-for-5 performance at the plate with three runs scored and an RBI, while Merriam added three hits, two runs scored and one RBI. Ratzloff tallied two hits, two RBIs and two runs scored for the Mad Frogs, who were outhit 12-10 for the game by the Bluebirds.
Menno's Macon Oplinger pitched a complete game through 10 innings, allowing four runs on 12 hits with five strikeouts and three walks issued to secure the win on the bump.
For Tabor, Easton Mudder went 3-for-5 at the plate, while Riley Rothschadl and Josiah Peterson both tallied two hits and two RBIs apiece. Landon Bares tacked on two hits, as well.
Peterson started on the bump for the Bluebirds, tossing five innings of zero-run ball with two hits allowed and 11 strikeouts. Bares appeared in relief and allowed three hits and three runs without recording an out for the pitching loss before being pulled for Landon Schmidt, who recorded the final three outs in the 10th inning with two strikeouts.
Menno (7-6) will head to Crofton (Neb.) for its next contest at 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 28, while Tabor (5-4) travels to Lesterville for a 7:30 p.m. game on Thursday, July 2.

Alexandria 13, Mount Vernon 1 (7 inn.) in Mount Vernon: The Angels plated nine of their runs in the final three innings to power past the Mustangs on Thursday night. Carter Brown's two-hit, five-RBI performance led the way for Alexandria at the plate, while Jerrod Zens and Jackson Jarding each had one hit and two RBIs. Dakota Munger had two hits and three runs scored offensively and earned the pitching victory after tossing four innings of one-run ball with three strikeouts. AJ Wilber claimed the save in relief with four strikeouts in three innings pitched. For Mount Vernon, Eric Giblin had one hit and the team's lone RBI. Parker Mandel was tagged with the loss, surrendering eight runs on four hits with nine walks issued and four strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings of work.
Winner/Colome 8, Parkston Mudcats 4 in Parkston: The Pheasants exploded for 15 hits and held the Mudcats to just three hits for the game to seal the road win. Winner/Colome's Dillon Lambley paced the team offensively with four hits and two RBIs, while Camden Anderson had three hits and two runs scored. Connor Hopkins went the distance on the mound, tossing a complete game and allowing four runs on three hits with 14 strikeouts and eight walks issued. For the Mudcats, Brady Albrecht had one hit and two RBIs, while Luke Bormann and Jeff Harris had one hit each. Max Scott was tagged with the loss on the bump, allowing nine hits and seven runs in 3 2/3 innings pitched with four strikeouts.
Canova 14, Flandreau Cardinals 10 in Canova: The Canova Gang outlasted the Cardinals on Thursday night behind a 22-hit performance and a 7-run fifth inning. Canova was paced by the bat of Cole Gassman, who had four hits and two runs scored, while Riley Genzlinger, Jared Miller and Derek Miller all had three hits apiece. Derek Miller also earned the pitching victory, surrendering seven hits on three runs with seven strikeouts through five innings of work. KWL was paced by Jaxon Christensen's 2-for-4 performance with five RBIs, two runs scored and a two-run home run. Ethan Price earned the pitching win with two hits and zero runs allowed with nine strikeouts in four innings of work. For the Owls, Riley Donovan and Blake Larson tallied the team's only hits with one apiece, as Blaze Herdman was credited with the loss on the bump after allowing four runs on two hits with four walks issued through 2/3 of an inning pitched.

Bryce Smart added two hits for the Raptors, who finished with eight hits for the game. Blake Moke posted Corsica's only hit for the game, while AJ Goeden was issued the pitching loss after allowing six hits and three runs with six strikeouts in five innings of work.

Gunnar Bruggeman and Austin Hand both led the way at the plate for Four Corners with one hit and two RBIs apiece, while Hand also earned the pitching win after allowing one run on three hits with 11 strikeouts in seven innings of work. For Chamberlain, Sandler Wiekamp had the team's lone run scored with two hits, and Tim Travis was tagged with the loss on the bump after surrendering seven runs on five hits and four walks issued plus three strikeouts in three innings pitched.
