Jun. 25—SIOUX FALLS — Palace City 14-and-under teener baseball picked up back-to-back wins in a road doubleheader on Wednesday with Sioux Falls Post 15. Palace City won 6-2 in the first game and won 10-8 in the nightcap in five innings.
In the first game, with the game tied at 2-all heading into the top of the sixth inning, PCB scored the game's final four runs across the last two innings and held on defensively to take the four-run victory. Palace City outhit Sioux Falls 13-3 for the game with three defensive errors.
Carter Buschbach led Palace City on offense, going 3-for-4 at the plate with one RBI, while Preston Maeschen added two hits, two runs scored and one RBI. Keniel Padilla and James Klinger tallied two hits apiece in the Game 1 victory.
Maeschen earned the win on the mound for PCB, pitching three innings and allowing one run on three hits with four strikeouts. Deyton Puetz made an appearance in relief for three innings, surrendering one run on zero hits with three strikeouts, while Padilla secured the game's final three outs with two strikeouts.
In the second game, Padilla's bat made the key difference for Palace City. Padilla paced the team with a 3-for-3 performance at the plate with four RBIs, including a three-run inside-the-park-home run, and three runs scored. Klinger went 2-for-2, and Carter Buschbach had two hits and a game-leading four runs scored. Kristopher Hatwan tacked on one hit, two RBIs and one run scored for PCB, who outhit Sioux Falls 11-8 for the game.
Buschbach earned the pitching victory for Palace City after allowing three runs on six hits with four walks issued through 2 1/3 innings. Xander Herman made an appearance in relief, tossing 1 1/3 innings with four runs allowed on one hit, and Padilla closed the game for the final four outs with two strikeouts.
Palace City 14U (10-15-1) is next in action over the weekend June 26-28 for the 14U Bob Tereshinski Tournament at Riverside Field in Yankton.
ABERDEEN, S.D. — Palace City Post 18 Junior Legion baseball lost a pair of games to Aberdeen Smittys Junior Legion on Wednesday at Fossum Field.
Post 18 was dispatched 11-1 in the opening game in five innings, and lost 17-7 in five innings in the nightcap of the doubleheader.
In Game 1, Aberdeen did all of its work across the final two innings, scoring 10 of its runs to seal the win in five innings. Post 18 tacked on its lone run in the top of the fifth inning, but was outhit 9-2 for the game and had two defensive errors.
Gavin Mendenhall was credited with the loss for Palace City on the mound. The starting pitcher allowed 10 runs (three earned) on eight hits over 4 1/3 innings of work, with one strikeout and five walks issued. Paxton Peper appeared in relief for PCB.
Oliver Raml tallied one hit and the team's lone RBI, while Nolan Widstrom tacked on the other hit in the Game 1 loss.
In Game 2, Aberdeen ran away with it in the bottom of the second inning after scoring nine runs to take the 11-4 edge and boost them past Palace City for the 10-run victory in five innings.
Blake Rehorst began the game for Palace City on the mound and was credited with the loss. The starter allowed three hits and eight runs (three earned) over 1 1/3 innings of work with three walks. Raml, Jack Hohn and Gage Schmidt each made an appearance in relief for PCB, allowing nine runs, 10 hits and four walks with six strikeouts combined through 2 2/3 innings pitched.
Madden Graves paced Post 18's offense, going 2-for-3 at the plate with one RBI and three runs scored, while Widstrom added two hits and two runs scored. Raml had one hit and two RBIs, and Owen Borgan tallied one hit and one RBI in the Game 2 loss.
The Post 18 Juniors (16-14) play next on Tuesday, June 30, at Huron for a 5 p.m. doubleheader.

Ayden Vaneverdingen stepped on the mound first for PCB, pitching two innings and allowed three runs on two hits with two strikeouts and four walks issued. Huntley Hillman and Ben Raml each made an appearance in relief for the final four innings, combining for seven strikeouts with four runs, one hit and seven walks allowed.
Hillman led Palace City at the plate, going 3-for-3 with one RBI and one run scored, while Vaneverdingen and Raml each tallied two hits in the Game 1 loss.
