Wichita State is cutting its men's and women's golf programs, Golfweek learned Tuesday.

Coaches and team members were called into a meeting at 5 p.m. ET Tuesday, and school administrators told the teams this would be their final year of competition.

Wichita State competes in the American Conference. Its men's team finished 10th at the conference tournament and had a record of 89-62-1 this season. The women compiled a 66-48-1 record and finished eighth at the American Conference Championship.

The men's team has made 22 NCAA Tournaments in its history and had eight All-Americans. The women's team has made NCAA Regionals five times.

Last year, Stephen F. Austin cut its golf programs after the season.

Golfweek's Lance Ringler contributed to this story.
