lol, OK I'll play. At the end of the season...

we end with a mediocre record like 9-7 to 7-9
John Skelton is our starting QB
Ryan Williams is our starting RB
Floyd finally grows into the #2 WR spot
Byrd surprises everybody and is our slot receiver
the organization realizes Heap is done
Powell takes LSH's place in the offense
Dockett has a resurgence and proves he still has plenty of gas in the tank
Johnson gets some good time rotating at safety
Bethel is a ST monster
Our linebackers really start to click and become scary. DWash goes to his 1st Pro Bowl
Fleming is coming along, but a little slower than hoped for, #3 CB
Toler is our #2 CB
Dan Williams has a breakout year and barely gets a pat on the back because his job isn't exciting and often overlooked
Our D as a whole becomes feared
our O however is lackluster, we end up running a lot more and having to grind out wins (which will actually benefit the D by giving them more rest)
it becomes apparent that our biggest priority needs to be building a great O-line that any quarterback can actually get a chance to do his job behind...

Bold NFL Predictions

I've gone on record for the Cards with my Over/Under post from last month (or whenever). Here are my predictions for the rest of the NFL:

Division Winners: Green Bay, Seattle, Atlanta, New York Giants, Baltimore, San Diego, Houston, New England
Wild Cards: Chicago, Detroit, New York Jets, Pittsburgh

Conference Champions: Green Bay, Houston

Super Bowl Champions: Houston Texans

NFL MVP: Aaron Rodgers

Eight quarterbacks will pass for over 5000 yards.
The NFL rushing champion will fail to surpass 1500 yards
Jordy Nelson (GB) leads the NFL in receiving yardage

Skelton Starts and plays 16 games
We go 10-6 and make the playoffs.
Stewart Bradley becomes the player we thought we were getting.
Bobby Massie starts all year and really looks solid by mid-season.
Todd Heap gets hurt three different times this year and plays 7 games total.
Rob Housler has breakout year and catches 50 for 500 yards and 7 tds
D'Anthony Batiste gets abused all year and is released.
Cards run as much as they will pass.
Defense ranks 12 overall. Pass defense is our weakness.
Michael Floyd starts midseason and has a good year. 52-600-6 TDs
Andre Roberts has his best year. 70-750-8 tds

Both Beanie and Ryan will start games because one or the other will be nicked up for a few games this year, but with Powell backing them up we still have a great running game this year.

By the third game Whiz and Grimm open their eyes and give the tackles some help by chipping the DE's with RB's and TE's and we turn into a running team.

The offensive line does better than most people think and becomes a solid unit except at LT.
Dan Williams has a breakout year.
O'Brien Schofield loses his starting job to Quentin Groves.
Jamell Fleming becomes the starter across from Peterson.
Gay is moved to the third CB spot.
Adrian Wilson has his best season in years.
Daryl Washington has 10 sacks and makes the probowl.
The Cards break the record for blocked kicks in a season.
Michael Adams gets cut before the season starts.
Neither Vonnie Holiday or Nick Eason return for the 2013 season.
Kevin Kolb is cut at the end of the season.
The Cardinals finally draft an OT in the first two rounds in 2013
John Skelton has 25-tds and 15-ints
In September Whiz brings in a LT from somewhere.

If they do bring in a LT from elsewhere that is capable of starting, I could see most of your predictions coming true. Hope you're right.

Cards go 6-10

At some point:
Kolb gets hurt
Skelton gets hurt
Beanie gets hurt
Williams get hurt
:bang::D

QBs throw 18 tds 24ints
Fitz gets 1000 barely & scores 8 tds
Oline leads league in sacks allowed
Beanie gets 1000+ 10 tds
Floyd has 400 yds & 2tds

Defense doesn't play as well as the end of 2012
DWash makes pro bowl
AW defies his age with his play
Calais is only threat to sack QB, ends with 9
StewDog leads team in tackles & voted defensive MVP
PP 21 has 2 punt returns for TDs but doesn't play like the difference maker at CB

Blowout losses against NE, PHi, Det & at SF
Texans defeat Lions in SB

People on this board scream for Wiz & everyone else to be fired after a 3-6 start
Kolb is released
Grimm is finally fired
Steve Keim is named GM
Cards package next yrs #1, a 2014 #2, 2015 #1 & #2, 2016 #1 to the Dolphins for the 2013 overall top draft pick & we select...:D:D:D

USC QB named Matt and recruited by Carroll is all I need to stay away :)

He'd have gone to USC if Winnie the Pooh had been head coach. The Barkley family is all USC - all the time. He grew up with a USC flag flying from his porch.

My prediction:

Every year I'm tremendously optimistic and look like an idiot by the end of the season. So this year:

WE ARE GOING TO SUCK.

Reserve your flight to the Big Easy for Feb 2013 now.

There you have it boys and girls. Out of the mouth of the babe herself. I couldn't have said it better, only I am really feeling it this time-----as opposed to the tounge-in-cheek version emoted by her glass half fullness. Dems, I hope you're correct this time, and that I am the one who is blow'in in the wind.

- Kolb starts, and begins to really get a feel for the offense.
- Fitz has 1300 yards and 11 TDs
- R. Williams becomes the talk of the league

Cards finish 9-7

Either we suck and I get my tickets for dirt cheap in the parkinglot across from the stadium, or we will kick ass and I won't mind paying out the wazoo once all the fair-weathers get wind. I'm cool either way.

Defense and ST ensure good season - top 5 in NFL for both, ST outscores 2 other NFL offenses
Kolb and Skeleton both do okay (85-95 QB rating)
Running game ends up awesome
Fitz continues to prove he doesn't care who throws the ball
Floyd finishes season strong as possession receiver
O-Line looks impressive around game 10

STL - starts out terribly and ends season strong
SF - starts out strong and then falls apart, Alex Smith is replaced
SEA - hot & cold all season, but exciting to watch
ARI - wins the NFC West thanks to bi-polar play across the division

I know that this is a game, and we're supposed to make sweeping claims, but this is impossible.

http://mcubed.net/nfl/ptlpfpg.shtml

The worst NFL offense this century was the 2006 Oakland Raiders, and they AVERAGED 10.5 PPG. That's 170 points in a season. Even the 2011 Rams, only the 24th-worst scoring offense of all time, averaged 15 points a game.

So you're looking at the special teams--counting field goals--to score essentially 2 TDs a game? If that happens, we'd probably go 10-6, or the offense is so remarkably bad that we'd be better off punting on third down to get our real unit on the field.

Kolb takes us to a 3-3 record and then is lost for the season
Skelton then loses 5 straight
Lindley wins his first game and the board goes insane then loses the rest

Fitz gets hurt in game 10 and is lost for the season.
we finish 4-12 for the 4th pick in the draft.

After the season Grimm is fired, Graves moves into an executive position with no player personnel decision making. Horton is moved into the assistant coaching position because we lose most of the games by 5 points or less.

i have been claiming that we would win a superbowl every year, so delusions are part of my fanhood

  • No one QB starts more than 8 games
  • All QBs throw more picks than TDs
  • Lindley gets at least one start
  • Beanie gets hurt...again...and misses more than 5 games
  • Williams shows flashes of greatness, but due to sharing touches with Wells (and Powell during Beanie's absence) gains less than 1000 yards.
  • Powell gains more than 400 total yards of offense (not including KR or PR)
  • Massie becomes a legit starter by year's end
  • Batiste doesn't
  • We're in the hunt for a 1st round QB at 5-11
  • The defense again gets of to a slow start and again finishes super-strong

Then the CARDS PASS ON Barkley and Wilson for a cb and the masses come unglued:D

I am going with 8 - 8

1) John will play most games as starter
2) Williams will lead the team in Runshing Yards, Bennie with have more TD
3) Fitz will still put up over 1k yards and 8TDs, will be the only All-Star

:( SF wins the division @ 12 - 4

Stop me if you've heard this before: The OL is a shambles and 6-10 is the ceiling for this team. I pity the QBs.
