Los Angeles Angels outfielder Jose Siri moved to the paternity list ahead of Wednesday’s series finale against the Baltimore Orioles.

In a corresponding move, they recalled outfielder Josh Lowe from Triple-A Salt Lake.

Siri signed a minor league deal with the Angels ahead of the 2026 season, and made his way to MLB towards the middle of May. Since his arrival, Siri has established his spot in the Angels’ lineup with a solid string of performances on both offense and defense.

The 30-year-old veteran has an .858 OPS so far this season, which is the second-highest among players who have featured in at least 30 games. The only player ahead of him in that category is Mike Trout, and the difference is marginal.

He has four home runs and 16 RBIs in his 32 games this year, and is reaching base at a higher clip than he ever has before.

With the glove, Siri has shown he can still make it happen with the glove after a poor defensive season in 2025. Prior to last year, Siri routinely finished in the 90th percentile or higher in terms of outs above average. This year, he has two outs above average and a plus-2 fielding run value, both of which place him in the upper half of MLB.

The Angels will hope Siri can return quickly rather than missing the full three days he is allotted, as he could also miss the Halos’ opening game against the Athletics at home on Friday.

How Will Josh Lowe Contribute to the Angels?

Lowe began the year with the big league club after arriving via trade from the Tampa Bay Rays, but failed to impress during the first two months of the season. He played 45 games with the Angels, posting a .546 OPS with five homers and 14 RBIs.

In the minors, Lowe played 26 games and posted a 1.014 OPS with nine homers and 29 RBIs over the course of a month.

While he hasn’t been great with the bat in MLB, Lowe has been a league average defender in MLB this year, and can play in any position across the outfield, which will help the Angels out while Mike Trout sits on the injured list.
