The Los Angeles Angels took action early ahead of the trade deadline Monday, making three trades to begin their fire sale.
The Angels’ first move of the day sent right-handed starting pitcher Jose Soriano to the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for three prospects.
Soriano has been solid for the Angels this season, making 22 starts so far this season. He got off to an extremely hot start to kick off the year, posting a 0.84 ERA through the month of April, though struggled through the following two months, posting a 5.34 ERA in both May and June.
Soriano found his stride again in July, posting a 2.74 ERA throughout the month, and will look to make an impact as the Blue Jays look to recover from their injury-riddled season.
They currently sit 4.5 games out of a wild card spot behind the Cleveland Guardians, and a frontline starter like Soriano is sure to make a difference through the remainder of the year.

The Angels’ next move came a few hours later, as they sent Jo Adell to the Guardians in a one-for-one swap.
Adell has regressed slightly following his 37-homer year in 2025, but has still been a solid bat for the Angels this season. He has 16 homers on the year, driving in 62 runs with a .682 OPS. His bat has been slightly below league average this year, though he’s still under contract through 2027, so the Angels got a solid return.
Brent Suter was the final player of the three players the Angels traded in the morning, and is heading to Atlanta in another one-for-one deal.
The left-hander has been decent for the Angels this seasons, posting a 4.12 ERA through his 41 appearances. He has 55 strikeouts on the year through 63.1 innings pitched, and has hovered right around league average all season.
The Braves currently lead the NL East, but have a noticeable lack of left-handed relievers beyond southpaw Dylan Lee, so Suter will play a big role for the remainder of the seasons.

In exchange for Soriano, the Blue Jays sent MLB No. 43 prospect Arjun Nimmala alongside outfielder Eddie Micheletti Jr. and Angel Rivero.
Nimmala has been fantastic across four levels this season, posting a .817 OPS on the year. The Angels placed him in Double-A upon acquiring him. Through 33 games in Double-A this year, Nimmala has four homers and 11 RBIs, batting .279.
Micheletti has spent all year in Triple-A, and also has an OPS north of .800. He has 14 homers and 46 RBIs, and ranked second in the Eastern League in triples with four.
Rivero, 19, pitched stateside for the first time this season in the Arizona Complex League, and had a solid year through 12 appearances. He has a 2.36 ERA through 42 innings pitched, striking out 52 batters.
In exchange for Adell, the Angels received Jacob Cozart from the Guardians. Cozart is having an everage year at the plate, posting a .714 OPS with 10 homers and 44 RBIs through 79 games, but has been fantastic on the defensive side of the ball. His 28 runners caught stealing leads the Eastern League.
The Angels got some MLB-ready talent in their trade with the Braves, bringing in infielder Nacho Alvarez Jr.
Alvarez played in MLB briefly in both 2024 and 2025, hitting two homers and driving in 15 runs through 58 games.
He has spent all of 2026 in Triple-A, though hasn’t played since May 20 due to injury. Through his 37 games in Triple-A this year, he had a .663 OPS with two homers and 21 RBIs. The 23-year-old Southern California native will look to bounce back from his injury and crack the MLB team upon his return.
