Cook played it perfect... People I talked with today said he tanked on purpose. Threw in the crying card at the end... As Louis said Archuleta won the night for talent but Cook grabbed the votes with the sympathy.

My wife said Archuleta did a million times better but she had to vote for Cook because she felt bad for him after he started to cry.

Please! Cook would win any talent competition hands down, he doesn't want to win nor should he want too. He will have a much better career if he can sign his own deal and not be linked to AI which is a joke now anyway. They pretty much hand pick who they want to win and judge and critisize to steer the votes. Anyone who thought Cook got outsang last night simply wasn't listening or their judgement is clouded because they like the kid. The breathing voice of the kid is annoying and not sure besides teenage girls who would actually go out and buy his stuff? This show is just a joke now!

No he didn't. He performed his best and he has a very good shot at winning it tonight. No one is foolish enough to throw it and not want to win. He has a lot to gain.

Wow. Congrats to Cook.

Damn...best Idol ever. And I heart Kelly.

And was it just me, or did Cook and Archuletta sing together spectacularly? Their voices melded together so well on the Heroes song...often someone drowns out the other, but not there. They were complementary voices...duet track?

I think it was just you ;)

I thought they did much better with the Bryan Adams song than Hero...I thought DA has too pure a voice for that song; needed to be grittier.

I didn't listen to the BA song...I don't like BA.

I don't care about gritty...I was just amazed at how well their voices melded together. Rarely do duets work, IMO, because someone sounds more powerful, or original or whatever. But both have interesting voices, and they were good together.

BTW, Rebecca thought the same, so it wasn't just me. So there.

:D She loves you. She wants to make you feel good. Sometimes, she agrees with you just to make you feel good. You've proven nothing.

I don't know...I absolutely agree with how well their voices sounded together; I just didn't like the two of them doing that particular song.

Eh, I thought you knew my wife. :D

At least you can admit that they were better than the original...right? And that thing was a freaking hit.

If I read correctly I said I think "Cook Played it Perfectly"... I made mention that I heard people say he threw it...

Both of them will do fine so I don't think on this season it was real important which one was number one and which one was number two...

Nope. No way...Like Louis said, DA's voice just isn't made for that song.

America got it right! Cook was the overall better contestant. Awesome show last night. My Tivo barely got the end. Right as Seacrest said Cook my Tivo stopped recording. I didn't get to see any of the reactions.

:bang:

On a side note my wife was telling me about a piece that TMZ did the other day. They showed two clips, on of Fantasia leaving the "Idol" Hotel last week and one of Carrie Underwood leaving the same place.

Underwood was escorted out by a platoon of body guards and wisked away in a Lincoln Navigator Limo.

Fantasia left on her own and got into the driver seat of her blue Toyota.

That pretty much tells you where the two singers are in the their careers today.

I was surprised Cook was able to win, I think David A. is very talented, but he's a "one trick pony" in my book. He does a certain style very well, as to where David Cook is able to put his own sound to things, and make his own sound. America definitely got it right this year, Cook is the best Idol yet IMO. Good to see a "rocker" finally win it.

I have a feeling he'll be very successful. Congrats to him, he deserves it.

The David duet on Heroes wasn't that great. Archuleta's voice is not made for that type of song. Though Cook sounded great on it.

There was too much music to prep for in one week. I felt really bad for the band ... they weren't so tight in sections. The singers missed cues and beats. The dance segment with the girls was particularly bad, especially with Elvira looking like she'd had one too many Jack and Cokes before her two camera appearances.

The duet ... they just sounded like they'd rehearsed it a few times and decided "good enough." How many songs did those guys have to prepare for this show? Eight? Nine? That's included the winning song, which both had to master while not knowing which was going to sing it. It's a ton of material to cover and probably why they chose songs most familiar to them in Tuesday's show.

Don't think people with no musical background can appreciate just how amazing those two guys were this week considering how much they had to compile in a short time. They remembered their words, hit their marks (mostly), and nary broke tone. They've become pros. Kids off the street could never do that. I'm impressed.

Favorite part was Syesha's duet with Seal. Love that song and Syesha was strong.

There were two duets I was impressed with last night...the Syesha/Seal duet and the Archuleta/Onerepublic duet.

Archuleta smoked that guy in vocals.

Anybody find it funny that the collection of the worst of the worst included a girl that sounded exactly like the Janis Joplin chick from the final 12?

You guys are deaf. You seriously prefer NICKLEBACK's version to theirs?

DA was a nice touch to the song...something different and he was a soft voice to go with DC's textured voice...added a nice touch to the song. And Cook was far superior to nicklecrack's jesus looking frontman.

The last two nights though they had teleprompters, one huge one in the middle of the audience, both for the competition night and last night... So if someone forgot a word that would have just been pathetic.

I'm so jazzed for my daughter to hear "Faith" from the show last night. It's her name, and her PE coach and another teacher say the chorus to her at school when they need her to do something. "I gotta have faith, faith faith..."

She asked me a couple of weeks ago "have you ever heard that song?" I said yes and she wanted to know who sang it. It was cute...it's like "her song" now which kind of freaks me out given the context of the song.

I thought the same thing. Actually during the duet I asked myself "jeez, how many songs did they cram into these guys' heads in one week??"

That is a significant number of songs to rehearse, especially when you take into account that three of them were going to be the basis of voting.

Oh, and bringing back "You are my brother" guy was fantastic.

Though it will be stuck in my head for another two months again.

It's not Nickelback that does the song. It's Chad Kroger & Josey Scott (from Saliva). DA had Josey Scott's part, and I think JS does a better job with the song.

I liked DC as much as I like CK in the song. I'm not a Nickelback hater like you are.

Thank God it's over and I won't have to be tortured by this show for 7 months.

Idol is the devil.
