Am I the only one who thinks Florida stands a chance against Ohio State?

I dunno why, but for some reason, this game almost eeerily reminds me of the last National Championship Game played in Arizona, between another Florida team (Miami) and ironically Ohio State.

This time around however, the shoe is on the other foot, and it's the Tressell lead Buckeyes who will come in the overwhelming favorite.

I don't know why, call it a hunch, call it crazy, but to me I think the Gators come in to this really with nothing much to lose and stun the world.

I totally agree. Everyone talks about Floridas offense but it's their defense thats got them here. They have one of the best LB's in college football (Siler), one of the best safeties (Nelson), and a defensive line that is one of the best against the run. This is an extremely tough matchup for Ohio St and I'd bet a lot of money Florida is the last team Tressell wanted to see in Glendale. Florida winning this game wouldn't be that much of an upset IMO. They've played such a tough schedule that I don't expect them to be intimidated at all. Should be a great game

My wife is a Gator (Class of '87). Got a ton of her Gator friends heading out here for the game!! Gonna be a BLAST!!!

I think this game could very easily be much closer than many are predicting... Florida has the one thing most other Ohio St. opponents didn't have (except Mich) - SPEED. Speed all over the field, on both sides of the ball... Most opponents just couldn't match Ohio St for speed, particualy at the WR and RB positions. This won't be an issue for Florida. And for Ohio St, it should be interesting to see if they can match Florida's speed on offense! Michigan comes close to the speed of Florida, and just about won that game in Columbus...
Could turn out to be a great game indeed! GO GATORS!!!

Yeah, Florida is a very fast team and that will be their best asset. They take advantage of opportunities when presented to them. That said, I do think the SEC is over-rated and is an "offensively challenged" conference. Florida hasn't seem an offense as good as Ohio St.

They are "offensively challenged" due to the immense speed and talent throughout the conference... And, LSU could be one of the most talented offenses in the entire country! Florida beat 'em...

It's hard to judge because with the exception of Tenn vs Cal and Kentucky vs Louisville, SEC teams didn't play anybody of note out of conference. Not that the Big 10 did much better. Guess we'll find out come bowl time.

Hell no. Gators will whoop up on Michigan. Speed kills.

But they have a horrible kicker, so they don't need a nail biter.

Michigan? Do you mean Ohio St?

Speed didn't kill Wisconsin last year against Auburn. And speed didn't kill West Virginia against Georgia - oh that's right, WVU was the faster team. :)

I agree with you. The Gators played a very tough schedule and came out with only 1 close loss to a good Auburn team. No one will give them a chance so they'll be really motivated to prove everyone wrong.

Michigan and Ohio State are the same team...... aren't they.

I think Florida beats Ohio St. Florida has the whole "respect" angle working in it's favor. That sort of stuff really does make a difference in bowls. Remember when Ohio St. played Miami?

I think Ohio St. would've beaten either USC or Michigan handily.

If it's close, the difference will be Troy Smith. He will make the big play to win the game.

Florida over Ohio State

Now of course I am a little bias being a Gators fan, but living in Ohio it doesn't matter if the buckeyes are 6-6 or 12-0 all the fans will give you reasons why they are better than any other team in the country.

This year however, it amazes me to listen to buckeye fans talking about how good a schedule they played, and that they will kill Florida.

Uhm, if I recall Florida had the toughest schedule in the country with opponents having a .643 winning percentage overall.

They played 9 teams that are going to bowls and only played 2 teams the entire year with a losing record.

I hear that OSU is going to pass all over the Gators. Well, that's fine, with Ryan Smith and Reggie Nelson combining for 14 interceptions this year, have fun with that.

If anything, Troy Smith will have to run the ball a lot if they are going to beat florida and open the field up. Hahahaha, but don't think that their isn't a QB spy set just waiting for him.

It should be a great game, and I'm glad to have finally found a forum where actuallly others think Florida is going to win. Besides us Gator fans of course.

He is not Michael Vick.

I actually think Florida will give them a run for their money. It should be a good game to watch.

I am pulling for Florida because of these reasons...

1) I am an ASU fan first.....and a Michigan fan second (Grew up in Detroit). I hate OSU as much as I hate UofA.
2) See #1

Too many Florida plays call for long runs parallel to the line before the ball carrier turns upfield. OSU's speed will handle those.

I see a close game with Troy Smith winning it late.

I am actually more excited about the other bowl game being played in Glendale (Oklahoma vs. Boise St) and think that will be a hellofa game.

I think Florida has a chance, but they will have to score first.
