I have cooled down a bit and realize that the end of the world is not here yet......

I DO have faith in Graves. I know that he is in a tough spot. I would love to see Blake slinging the ball this fall (sign Conway...too..please).

There is nothing more that he could've done in the Colvin situation besides getting the contract proposal out earlier.

What good would that have done? Colvin didn't sign immediately after he left Arizona. If that were the case, then I would agree with you.

That's because we didn't have an offer to him until he was already on the other side of the country.

I would love to see this team offer a deal BEFORE the player is leaving Sky Harbor. It is one thing to have a huge offer when you are talking with other teams.

However, it is much more effective when you have it in your hands sitting your ass in a lounge chair at Cards HQ when it's 80 degrees outside.

There has been no sense of urgency what so ever.

In certain cases, I would agree. However, all of the players that have come in here have said that they wanted to take trips anyway. If you try to stong arm them by trying to force them to sign right away, they may use that to drive up their prices elsewhere. It may sometimes work for other teams, but a player would use it against the Cards.

I can see where you are going...but....let that be the other team's problem then. I don't like the game of "Let's see what New England is going to offer, then we'll top that."

If they want to pay more than us, so be it. I still like the scenario of him having a moat and gator contract in his hand BEFORE he leaves our beautiful 80 degree weather. he gets off the plane in Boston where it's 15 degrees and he says "You can't pay me enough money to live in this cold. I've got bank in AZ..."

Then if they do beat our price, then that's one less team we have to deal with for in salary cap wars.
