Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers will be facing the Green Bay Packers in the first of their preseason games this weekend.

Unfortunately for Rodgers, there will be no final visit to Lambeau Field on the cards, with Friday’s game taking place in Pennsylvania.

The 42-year-old quarterback is calling the 2026 season his final before retiring and walking off into the sunset.

One final game at Lambeau would have been the perfect way for Rodgers to bow out, but it was not to be.

However, the future Hall of Famer was unable to hide his disappointment during his latest sit down with the media ahead of the game against his former team.

Aaron Rodgers admits he wishes Steelers vs Packers was at Lambeau Field

Rodgers has won one Super Bowl ring during his career and he did that with the Packers.

A reunion – albeit in a preseason game – for Rodgers is only fitting, but it is not quite the fairytale scenario that the 42-year-old would have been hoping for.

“When I heard it was possible to play both my former teams, I was really hoping this one was going to be in Green Bay, not just to get back at Lambeau one more time, but to head out to Chives [restaurant] for a dinner and maybe head out to Green Bay Country Club for a quick nine or something. I was really hoping it was going to be in Green Bay for a lot of reasons,” he told the media.

“It would have been strange, being in that [visitors] locker room and stuff, but I would have found my way over, like many former players have over the years… and see some of the guys and see some of the trainers and equipment staff and all the people I really care about that still work there. Yeah, I was definitely bummed out that we weren’t in Lambeau for this one.”

Rodgers is unlikely to play in the Steelers’ preseason games after admitting it is not real football on display.

However, had the game been held at Lambeau, it may have been another question as Rodgers has shared his clear wish to play there one final time.
