When the 2026 NFL season arrives this upcoming fall, it will mark the start of a new era for a few former Alabama football players in particular.
This offseason has been one filled with change for Alabama football players in particular, with some traded to new NFL teams, while others entered free agency for the first time in their professional career's. As a result, many top Alabama players currently in the league are set to take the field with new teams in 2026, a list which includes some prominent names.
Here are five of the biggest former Alabama players to switch NFL teams this offseason, as well as what their new role might be in 2026.
Tagovailoa is set to play a team other than the Miami Dolphins for the first time in his NFL career this upcoming fall, doing so with the Atlanta Falcons. The former Alabama quarterback, who was the starter for six seasons in Miami, signed with Atlanta after being released earlier in the offseason, and is likely expected to compete for the Falcons' starting job with Michael Penix Jr..
Waddle also departed Miami earlier this offseason, as the Dolphins traded the five-year NFL veteran to the Denver Broncos. Falling just short of a 1,000-yard season a year ago, Waddle is expected to be one of the top receivers for a Denver team that just missed the Super Bowl in 2025.
After a lengthy tenure in Washington, Allen's time with the Minnesota Vikings lasted only a season, with the former Alabama defensive tackle now set to join the Cincinnati Bengals in 2026. Allen, who tied his career-high in tackles with 68 a year ago, is likely expected to start for Cincinnati in 2026.
Fitzpatrick is third prominent former Alabama player who departed Miami this offseason, with the safety traded to the New York Jets. The former Alabama standout will join a Jets secondary where he is likely expected to play a key role alongside fellow Crimson Tide safety Malachi Moore.
Robinson moves across the NFC South following two stellar seasons with the Carolina Panthers, joining the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The veteran defensive tackle will likely start for Tampa Bay in 2026, as well as be one of the NFC South's top players at the position yet again.
