Atlanta Falcons quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is making good use of his time as the team works through its second round of OTAs this week. After spending the first six years of his NFL career in Miami, Tagovailoa is making sure he gets to know his new teammates in Atlanta.
The former Dolphins QB has been impressed by the Falcons' collection of offensive talent, including tight end Kyle Pitts, wide receiver Drake London and rookie Zachariah Branch.
"With KP and with Drake, I mean, those are some big dudes man," Tagovailoa told reporters on Wednesday. "You know, you can throw it up and anywhere in their vicinity and they're gonna make plays. And then with Bijan, that's just a special dude, man. And I've been around a lot of special dudes."
When asked about Branch, Tagovailoa said the speedy rookie reminds him of his former teammate, wide receiver Jaylen Waddle.
"I mean the dude's fast," Tagovailoa said of Branch. "The dude can play. Very shifty. He kind of reminds me of [Jaylen] Waddle. And he has the same number. Great kid. He's got a good head on his shoulders. And he asks a lot of questions. I think that's something very good that you like to see in your rookies."
The Dolphins drafted Waddle with the sixth overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, just two spots after the Falcons drafted Pitts. Over his first five NFL seasons, the former Alabama star has recorded 373 catches for 5,039 receiving yards and 26 touchdowns. Waddle was traded to the Denver Broncos over the offseason.
Branch was a third-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft out of Georgia. Last season, he finished with 81 catches for 811 yards and six touchdowns for the Bulldogs. The Falcons needed help at wide receiver, and Branch could play a key role this season.
