2026, perhaps more than it does to any Carolina Panthers player, feels like a make-or-break year for wide receiver Xavier Legette.

The former first-round pick has yet to find his footing, sometimes literally, in the NFL—having struggled with drops and spacial awareness through his two pro campaigns. Legette, who has now been surpassed in the pecking order by reigning Offensive Rookie of the Year Tetairoa McMillan and undrafted gem Jalen Coker, will head into his third season with nine career games of 10 receiving yards or fewer—nearly twice the total of his games of 50 yards or more (five).

If Legette doesn't make an early impact here in 2026, he could find himself on the trade block. And if he does, which teams could have interest in the potent, but frustrating 25-year-old?

Here, if that fate is to be met, are four potential landing spots for Legette . . .

Kansas City Chiefs

Between his injury history and his run-ins (and run-outs) with the law, Rashee Rice simply cannot be trusted to stay on the field in Kansas City. The 26-year-old played in just 12 contests over the past two campaigns, and could miss more time as he rehabs from knee surgery and awaits another possible suspension after violating probation this offseason.

Behind him is former first-rounder Xavier Worthy, who was selected just four spots ahead of Legette in 2024. Worthy has yet to establish himself as a reliable threat, having scored just one touchdown in 2025.

Las Vegas Raiders

The Raiders, with first-year head coach Klint Kubiak and 2026 first overall pick Fernando Mendoza, are starting fresh. So perhaps an entirely new slate would serve Legette well.

He wouldn't have too much competition to deal with, either—as the team's wideout room is currently headlined by Tre Tucker, Jalen Nailor and Jack Bech.

Miami Dolphins

Like Las Vegas, Miami is starting from square one on the sidelines and under center.

But if they want to figure out if Malik Willis is really their guy at the quarterback position, they'll need to equip him with more than what they have. Their top receivers—following the departures of Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle—now include Malik Washington, Jalen Tolbert and Tutu Atwell.

Washington Commanders

Legette's build, skill set and alma mater had drawn him some early comparisons to fellow South Carolina Gamecock Deebo Samuel. Samuel, still a free agent, doesn't appear to be headed back to Washington after a solid 2025 showing.

If the Commanders are looking to fill the void and add some more potential behind Terry McLaurin, Legette could be a decent roll of the dice.
