Say what you will about when he's on the field, but Carolina Panthers wideout Xavier Legette is more than aware off of it.
The third-year receiver chatted with reporters after this morning's official end to mandatory minicamp. While touching upon the outside chatter regarding the disappointing start to his pro career, Legette acknowledged that his 2026 can't be like his 2025 . . .
Those mishaps he's referring to likely pertain to his drops and lack of spacial awareness. The 2024 first-round pick has not only had issues with completing catches, but has also had trouble staying inbounds and—in some cases—lined up properly before the snap.
Legette's struggles would lead to a decrease in playing time over the final stretch in 2025. He'd record a career-low 31.4-percent offensive snap share in the team's regular-season finale against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers—a game that could've clinched them the NFC South crown.
But despite all of that, Legette did receive a nice vote of confidence from head coach Dave Canales earlier on in the week.
"From the minute he's gotten here, he's 100 miles an hour," Canales stated on Tuesday. He's putting in the time in the playbook, he's busting his butt on the field, working on little technical skills.
"We had great meetings going out of the season, great meetings when he came back in April. Talked about his plan and the things he's working on and all that. He's just aware of all the things he needs to continue to improve upon to be the player that we know he can be, and that he knows he can be."
Through two NFL campaigns, Legette has amassed 84 receptions for 860 yards and seven touchdowns.
