There hasn't been a player selected in the NFL supplemental draft since the Arizona Cardinals took Jalen Thompson in 2019. But 2026 looks like they will have one selected after the news that former Texas Tech quarterback Branden Sorsby is declaring for this year.

Sorsby chose to declare after an ongoing legal battle to regain his college eligibility after is was discovered that Sorbsy made more than 9,000 bets totaling at least $90,000 across his college career. There has been plenty of chatter about the Pittsburgh Steelers being one of the teams who might bid on Sorsby in the draft but here are three reasons why they should avoid him at all costs.

Drew Allar and Will Howard exist

The Steelers already have two young quarterbacks that head coach Mike McCarthy is working with. He doesn't need a third.

He's not as good as you all think

If Sorsby were truly a first-round or even second-round prospect, he would have declared for the 2026 NFL draft and not tried to go back to school amidst all this.

Oh yeah, all the gambling

Sorry but 9,000 bets, including bets on Indiana when he was on the team, is way too much baggage to invest a top draft pick in. We hope Sorsby gets a second chance and can get his life on track but not in Pittsburgh.
