The Philadelphia 76ers will now turn their attention to the buyout market after a relatively quiet trade deadline. The Sixers made two moves at the deadline--sending out Jared McCain and Eric Gordon--to clear up financial and roster flexibility.
President of Basketball Operations Daryl Morey is always looking for avenues to help the team succeed and when he sees an opportunity, he's known to go after it. There are options out there that make sense for the Sixers as they look to now move forward with taking another step toward serious contention in a wide-open Eastern Conference.
Here are three names that make sense for the Sixers in the buyout market:
He hasn't been waived yet by the Suns, but he should be available. He wasn't great with the Bucks averaging only 6.7 points and shooting 30.6% from deep after a solid 5-year run with the Orlando Magic, but Anthony would make a lot of sense for Philadelphia, which suddenly needs help at guard following the McCain trade. Anthony can handle the ball, score in bunches with his ability to get hot from the field, and he can do a number of different things to help a team succeed.
The 7-year man out of UC-Santa Barbara was traded to the Hawks at the deadline as he was unable to find his rhythm in three seasons with the Lakers. However, he did shoot 36.9% from deep in 29 games for LA in the 2025-26 season--and he is a known Sixers killer. Vincent was a key member of the Miami Heat reaching the finals in 2023 as he started all 22 games during that playoff run for Miami, and he played well. His veteran presence and the success he's experienced would do wonders for the Sixers down the stretch of the season.
Something of a Swiss Army knife type of player, Highsmith has yet to play this season after undergoing meniscus surgery in August. However, per Yahoo! Sports, he is close to a return. The versatile wing is a terrific defender and was another part of that 2023 Heat team that reached the finals. He is just good enough as a shooter to keep defenses honest, which would allow him to be on the floor with Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid. He can play well enough to earn regular minutes with Paul George sidelined and be a part of the rotation when George does return.
