Heading into the 2026 NFL Draft, based on the way the roster is currently constructed, the New Orleans Saints have quite a few gaps left to fill if they wish to compete for a division title in 2026. Kellen Moore and Tyler Shough are leading the renaissance after multiple years of less-than-optimal play from the previous regime. Now, getting weapons for Shough and building a competent defense are the primary focuses.
A name that has popped up in recent discussions pre-draft is Utah tight end Dallen Bentley, who was recently reported to be the subject of interest from the Saints, including multiple visits.
Bentley is an extremely impressive and well-rounded prospect who broke out onto the scene in a big way this past season. After only posting 20 receiving yards total in his first two seasons, 2025 was a completely different story, as he put together 48 receptions for 620 yards and 6 touchdowns, good for 12.9 yards per reception.
He has solid size at 6-foot-4, 253 pounds, and tested extremely well athletically at the combine. He participated in the vast majority of tests, posting a 4.62-second 40-yard dash, 1.62-second 10-yard split, 35-inch vertical jump, 9-foot-10 broad jump, 4.42-second shuttle, and 24 bench press reps, all of which combine to show a highly athletic and explosive prospect.
With the Saints already having Juwan Johnson, Noah Fant, and Moliki Matavao, it is intriguing to see them continue to show interest in the position. That said, adding more talent to the room is never a bad thing, especially if they intend to run more 12-personnel in 2026.
