One of the Detroit Lions' free agency moves was its signing of tight end Tyler Conklin.
A former Vikings, Jets and Chargers tight end, Conklin inked on a cheap, one-year deal. The $1.075 million cap hit is a small price to pay for a tight end that totaled 2,215 yards and 10 touchdowns across the 2021-24 seasons.
But, the Lions might want to keep upgrading a tight ends room that also includes star Sam LaPorta, who's recovering from back surgery, and Brock Wright.
According to Sports Illustrated's Arye Pulli, the Lions have expressed "significant" interest in Utah tight end Dallen Bentley.
Bentley, a 6-foot-4, 264-pound tight end, enjoyed a breakout 2025 campaign with the Utes. The Taylorsville, Utah, product reeled in 48 grabs for 620 yards and six touchdowns.
Bentley ended his breakout season with a career day against Nebraska, catching six passes for 106 yards and a score in the SRS Distribution Las Vegas Bowl.
Per ESPN, Bentley is ranked as the No. 7 best available tight end in the upcoming 2026 NFL draft.
In addition to the Lions and New Orleans Saints' interest, Pulli reports that the 49ers, Bears, Broncos, Buccaneers, Colts, Cowboys, Dolphins, Jaguars and Raiders have each held multiple interviews with Bentley.
