The Los Angeles Lakers are about to begin what could turn out to be a very consequential offseason. They're projected to have tens of millions of dollars of salary cap space, as well as two future first-round draft picks to offer in a trade, and those resources could allow them to start to truly build a championship-caliber team around Luka Doncic.
Los Angeles will also have the No. 25 pick in this year's draft. They have been working out prospects in this year's draft class, including Jaden Henley, a 6-foot-7 wing from Grand Canyon University.
Henley is adept at attacking the basket and finishing at the rim, and he averaged 17.7 points, 5.7 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.6 steals a game this past season as a senior. He draws fouls at a relatively high rate (he attempted 6.4 free throws a game compared to 12.7 field-goal attempts a game during the 2025-26 campaign), and he loves to attack in transition and get into attack mode early in possessions.
The Ontario, Calif. native also seems to have plenty of potential on the defensive end, where he can effectively guard players at multiple positions and make plays on the ball. He is fairly athletic and can jump fairly high, which makes him seem like an intriguing prospect when combined with his other strengths.
However, Henley isn't a reliable 3-point shooter. He made 37.8% of his 3-point attempts as a freshman and 35.1% of such attempts two years later, but he regressed to 26.8% from that distance as a senior. Improving his outside shooting will be a big key to him finding a future in the NBA.
He could end up being a second-round pick in the draft later this month.
