Some quick thoughts on this.

1 - Budda has not been great this year, so agreement.

2 - I don't know that it is ideal to have him paired next to Jalen Thompson.

3 - Essentially only one more year on his contract.

4 - He at least seem to care.

5 - How many different combinations of DBs is he going to have to get used to playing with?
Yup last year he was freed to attack the LOS because we believed we had competent corner play but bad DL play.

Now we have competent pass rush but Budda is back to wandering aimlessly in space:

Which is bizarre because all I’ve been told is we’ve got great corners

The issue with Budda has always been he takes himself out of plays just overruns the play or guesses and ends up out of position. in Zone that's a really bad thing you have to be able to trust that the guy to your left and right are going to be where they're supposed to be. I've watched this play about 10 times again there's no guarantee he is able to tackle Taylor, and it's 2nd and goal from the 1 so even if he gets him down it's likely they still score but the only thing I can fathom here is Budda thinks by taking the outside blocker he forces Taylor inside and Mack Wilson will get him but as you can see Wilson's got a teammate in his way that he has to try and get around. What I think Budda should do there is stay inside of the blocker and try and get Taylor but he just literally runs into the blocker.

Sorry site is so slow today it won't let me post the video only a screenshot this is the game winning TD by Taylor. The guy outside there is TE Mo Allie-Cox and Budda just runs right into him it's clearly intentional which is why I think he is trying to take the blocker out so that Taylor has to cut in but he has zero awareness that he's literally the only guy that has a chance to get Taylor. If he can even slow Taylor up, Wilson has a chance but Wilson is having to get through the wash which in this case is his teammate to the right of him

I thought he played pretty well, but it's hard to tell from the stands. I believe he had a pass break-up and was in on several tackles. He's moves pretty well. He's pretty fast as well, but he was a fourth round pick for a reason.
I saw a bad missed tackle--can't remember the play--and he gave up a big pass play to Warren early.
