At least I can drop MLB TV for the rest of the season.
Specific to Marte, it’s been reported several times that he actually decides when he needs to sit. There have been multiple times this season where he informed Torey he won’t be in the lineup “today.”So I was 100% on this with you but Gambo has said multiple times that the scheduled days off come above Torey. So it's a Hazen thing
Except #7 would play hungover and still hit a couple of bombs.Specific to Marte, it’s been reported several times that he actually decides when he needs to sit. There have been multiple times this season where he informed Torey he won’t be in the lineup “today.”
I cast no judgement on Marte because I really like the guy. However, I never knew a player who would do this on a regular basis. Not feeling well? Maybe hung over (Micky Mantle)? I see it as a sign of the times…
Maybe he's grown tired of the manager.More on my Marte point from Bickley:
Are Ketel Marte's absences becoming a problem for the Arizona Diamondbacks? Dan Bickley says there's more to this than people know.
"I referred to Ketel Marte as soft ... for his penchant to want days off at the worst possible time. I'm not talking about one specific incident. I'm talking about the cumulative effect of having a player who constantly asks out of a lineup and having a manager who obliges him."
Good. They should. It's not unreasonable to think they want to keep him, since he may still have 2-3 really solid years left...even with a biggish contract. I'm starting to think they know Lawlar ain't it at 3rd. I also think that Blaze getting some play at 2nd (his fielding is much improved) is saying maybe he takes over at 3rd if Suarez is traded...or Marte is being groomed for DH (would be awesome since he's a switch hitter and they wouldn't need to burn the position with a platoon). Just my thoughts.![]()

Been saying they should’ve traded him last offseason. Great player but not reliable. This is why I said I would sell Marte off as well. His value will just go down from here.
For pitchers!!! Why?
