Fleming is something. 6-9 with 7-5 wingspan. Very fluid. Plays great D. Has a great shot. If he can shoot the three consistently and pass and play team ball, I cannot see a weakness.

The last unheralded player that came out that had those types of characteristics (at least that i can remember) was Kahwi.

I saw a great video where veterans say your first year is all about trying to play perfect and not screw up. Which ironically, makes yo0u screw up. They say that's why some rookies make the jump in year two and just focus on their game and their skills.

In year one, I'm mostly looking for rookies to make small contributions and flash their talent in NBA games.

We may have to wait awhile unless they get meaningful playing time and make the jump sooner.

This is why this year's Suns is the perfect environment to develop rookies. Expectations of the team are low, there is a great team concept, they don't have cowtow to superstar players, everyone on the team has a green light to shoot, everyone on the team is digging defensively.

However, I think developing in the g-league like we are is great.

The Suns podcast guys are talking about the stars we should trade for. It is so hard to change gears. We are not in the "trading for stars mode" anymore. We have to build talent from within by developing it. The Suns have not developed talent inwardly for decades. The Spurs made a living doing it. If we had a rook or young player, they had to be pretty highly developed already to break into the lineup. We did not commit to g-league, we did not bring players along slowly. We were always in win-now mode, or tank mode.

Now we can do neither. Win-now is a surprise. Tanking is pointless because we don't have our own picks anymore.

So we have to find young raw talent and develop it. That is the only way we can build this roster. Maluach, Fleming, and Brea are all really good starts on this process.

Man Man looked the best I have seen him. He was fluid, knew where he should be on the court and a difference maker on defense.

A good game for the Suns rookies. I didn't see Koby Brea, though.

19 rebounds in 32 minutes is exactly what im talking about and they've been working with on defense but that's a good thing - when he learns the system it's over - that's the good thing about our rookie coach being good - he can stick around- maluach won't be learning a completely different system next year

Bouyea is a capable shooter and scorer which is Brea's potential calling guard. There is no need to get locked into labels.

Agreed, I think it's telling where Phoenix see's Brea's development given Bouyea is getting time immediately on joining the team as a fellow 2-way player. I won't read too much into the fact that these are regular rotation minutes instead of just end of game garbage time just due to the myriad of injuries that have opened up guard minutes.

Locked into labels? Bouyea is a pg who is an excellent shooter. Brea is not a point guard by any estimation. Maybe he could develop into that, but he has not shown it so far. My point is that Bouyea is getting priority because he fills more of a present need. He is an excellent shooter, but he is also more of a distributor than Brea. Bouyea also walks out on the court like he belongs there. He just has a calm confident presence.

We can develop Brea in G-league without worry. This is exactly what this team should be doing right now with its rookies.

I know what you mean. DirecTV gave me a free subscription to ESPN Unlimited, otherwise I would be on the outside looking in.

I missed the Phoenix Suns games that were exclusively show on Peacock and Prime.

After watching Maluach in the Stockton game, I'm not worried about him at all. He has great body control and is very smooth for his size. He's gonna be a monster in a few years. Add to that his fantastic attitude...I'm excited!

I think the wife and I are gonna try to make it to one of the January games. Seems like a fun, cheap night out. Need to time it when the rooks are likely to play though.
