We are a bad rebounding team. Yes, we are in the top five in offensive rebounds, but the second worst in defensive rebounds and #20 overall.
ott likes the possessions per game - are we top 10 there?

I know people want a PF for rebounding and size. There is even one podcast here in the Valley suggesting playing Oso next to Williams. I keep pointing out if you play Oso next to Williams, who is the second unit Center? It would have to be Richards. But most fans want to trade Richards away. Another problem with starting Oso, is who do you take off the floor? Brooks? O'Neale? Finally, the reason we are winning is defense primarily, but spacing on offense secondarily. Having three point shooters to space the floor for Booker has been working. You put Oso and Williams out there, and the spacing becomes very tight. It would be much easier to double Booker. In theory it would be nice to have a good PF that can shoot the three, rebound, and play good switching defense. Not many of those guys teams would be willing to part with for the assets we have to trade.
Which all boils down to, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it".

I looked up possessions and Phoenix is surprisingly low: https://www.teamrankings.com/nba/stat/possessions-per-game

My guess is that this is impacted by pace of play and all offensive rebounds are treated as a single possession.

But, we are tied for 5th in the league in 'extra scoring chances' which is probably more what Ott cares about: https://www.teamrankings.com/nba/stat/extra-chances-per-game

Absolutely. You give a good shooting team more chances to score than their opponents, the math works in your favor. Now if we could just reduce our turnovers, we could make that equation work even better!

I agree totally with this. Looking for a PF undervalues what ONeal is bringing to the floor every night. And we are not a bad rebounding or defensive team. We can’t get fixated on how tall people are. The most important thing is what is happening on the floor.

We do need a go to scorer when the outside shooting goes cold. Green going to the rim should help that.

A trade right now, especially a big one, is more likely to damage the chemistry here than help.
In theory, if we can get a healthy Green on the floor before playoff time, your are 100 percent correct. We lost at Atlanta becuase we couldn't score down the stretch. Our team actually played some wicked defense in the second half.

so much for my theory on fleming getting actual minutes with book and jalen out lol - this means ott still plans on winning games
You do remember we won some games before when Booker and Green were out right?

Of course we are going to try to win when we are right in the thick of the playoff race.

I wonder if they can be reassigned to the Phoenix Suns in the same day. Probably not, but playing time is the most important.

The Phoenix Suns assigned rookies Khaman Maluach and Rasheer Fleming to the G League Valley Suns ahead of Sunday’s matchup with the Delaware Blue Coats at Mullett Arena in Tempe.

Any chance the suns bring Huntley up to help at the 4?

I haven't seen Huntley play in awhile. He is very athletic but it's hard to see him jumping ahead of Fleming. As @Hoop Head mentioned, a two-way contract would be a jump for him.

I'd add, Bouyea (two-way) is not playing like the prize we once thought he might become.

C.J. Huntley is a 6'11" forward who signed a two-way contract with the Phoenix Suns in June 2025 after going undrafted, splitting his rookie season between the Suns and their NBA G League affiliate, the Valley Suns. A former Appalachian State star, he averaged 15.7 points and 8.1 rebounds during his 2024-25 senior
