I don't see Sam being very good at the next level...his passing game just isn’t there yet.
the 2nd part is correct. dont know about the first

that said: he has great pocket awareness and poise. He has enough great throws that some teams will believe that they can make it consistent. Obviously, the athleticism is upper tier. He will have to dial down how many hits he takes in the NFL

Too soft / bad body / raw? He hasn't wowed me in what I have seen but then I read draft reports and I am wondering what I am missing. Wanted to get your perspective.
I usually don’t helmet-scout, but man, Bama has had a badddd history with their OTs in the NFL. I don’t know what it is.

Also think he’s just too big & suspect in pass protection.

He’s 20 and overweight. Not sure he comes back but he could be a monster prospect the following year.

For some reason I thought you were an Alabama fan. Don't know why.

Tought choice. But all things being equal...pick the OT..higher value position overall...and it's far easier to move a failed OT inside and find success as an OG than it is to bump out a failed guard prospect ...
Which is a bigger need for us: a starting guard or a starting right tackle?

Not for 2026 but for 2027 - a QB to watch is Dylan Raiola.

It's hard to take him seriously right now because of #1 and #2 below.

He was the #1 recruit in his class after throwing for 88 TD's his senior year.
Committed to Georgia and then changed to Nebraska where his Dad went (he was a C in the NFL for 14 years)

You can see the talent when you watch him (see Michigan game) but two things he needs to do:
1) Transfer to a legit program next year
2) Stop that Mahomes crap

For me, when watching QBs, I tend to just focus on the basic stuff. The franchise stuff will generally stand out but it's becoming more rare as these guys aren't being coached on some of it.
Right?
I try to focus on physical ability..."can he make all the throws?"
And mental acuity... is he processing the defense? Diagnosing blitzes?...
Emotional stability/Leadership...
These go together because we don't really get to see how a guy leads on TV until there is adversity...so does he keep it together? Will he chastise a teammate for an error then follow with encouragement?
When there is an absolute hurricane of chaos going on all around him...does he look ready for a Pic nic?

I think this class is Mendoza or bust.

Dante Moore could be really good, but sadly he'll enter the pros a year too soon and will predictably struggle his first two years in the NFL.

Ty Simpson has some Kurt Cousins to his game, but that one year starter gives me Mac Jones vibes. Mac has been good this year, but again scheme/team specific.

No no absolutely not to "Stan" Raiola.

I'd rather keep an eye on Julian Sayin. Not overly athletic, but incredibly accurate and strong arm. @Cbus cardsfan

That 2028 class (assuming they develop) could be generational. A couple of those guys are going to have lots of starts.

Nussmeier certainly looks more like last year now that his Oblique injury is mostly healed. Those things really linger.

Nobody talks about Diego Pavia but I love how this kid plays and he is obviously an inspirational leader. I would take him over Lanoris Sellers and several other much more hyped QBs.

@Cbus cardsfan Arvell Reese an EDGE at the next level or is he maxed out? He seems like he plays with force greater than that of a 240lb guy.
He's been extremely good.
I don't know if it's Matt Patricia scheming him to be great or the he's really that good?
It's his 1st year as a starter so he might just be that good. I like him much better than Sonny Styles, who has been hyped up for 3 years running.

For comparison sake, Reese will be a much better pro than Jack Sawyer or JT Touamola.

For Cardinals sake, Cody Simon isn't in the Arvell Reese stratosphere.

Also, the best QB in college football is Julian Sayin.
He has great receivers but doesn't miss a throw. I just not sure what his arm strength is. I think it's plenty good but he throws such a smooth ball and quick release that it's hard to tell.

Someone may take him in round 3 or 4. He has limitations like speed and unwillingness to slide. Not the strongest arm either. The inspirational guys, like Tebow, rarely enjoy much NFL success.

Do you do this every year?

Still not a Moore fan, absolutely horrible at UCLA. he's better now but basically piling up stats against weak competition. He did well against Penn State in a close game but the only other close game they played this year he was bad.

Physically looks like a big time prospect, the big improvement this year is reacting to the pass rush, at UCLA he just folded when facing pressure, this year been the complete opposite but again to me it's because the games are almost all mismatches.

Guess we will see, the first scouting report I read just now compared his college path to.... Kyler Murray

Sayin is really good but as a Cards fan after 7 years of Murray I'm not sure I want another small QB, he's taller than Kyler of course but he's still small. Definitely accurate.

Tate is interesting great college WR but nobody has any idea what his 40 time is. If you google it you get 4.6 as an estimate which obviously would almost assuredly keep him out of the first round. Big tough guy competes for the ball and catches the ball with his hands. But for him it's going to be all about how he runs.

I think it's pretty unlikely we take a WR early in the draft if we didn't do it this year when it seemed obvious, seems unlikely we will next year so I'm looking at 3rd round or later guys

This class isn’t good. I like Simpson the most and he has 7 career starts. Sellers should transfer to a better program. Mendoza is fine QB with limited upside. The top-2 guys coming into this season were Nussmeier and Klubnik who look like day 2 guys. I hope a few of them go back to school for another year.
