Caleb Downs is a good player. But consider: Last two Super Bowl winners won with these safeties: One not drafted (Blakenship), one taken in the fourth (CGJ), a converted corner (Bryant) and a fourth (Love). Emmanwori was taken in the second. Draft big people and twitchy rushers.

Florida DT Caleb Banks vs. LSU in 2024 is top-10 overall tape. Go watch it. 6'6"/330 with 35" arms. Showed a lot of burst and chase down in that game.

Related: Gators DL is one of the biggest ever. Banks is often the 2nd or 3rd biggest DL on the field, and he is a monster.
I would love to snag Banks with the Cardinals early 2nd rounder but it is looking more likely that he goes mid to late 1st.

This is one reason some of the "doesn't play the run well" stuff on Bailey is confusing. He isn't a great run stopper, but he also isn't a bad one.

Oregon safety Dillon Thieneman is expected to surge into the top-20 picks following his performance at the NFL Scouting Combine nextweek,per @MoveTheSticks.Thieneman is viewed behind Caleb Downs as the No. 2 safety in the 2026 draft class by many scouts

Indiana wide receiver Omar Cooper Jr. is gaining steam among scouts to become a 1st-round pick.

Teams appear enamored with Cooper’s route-running ability and athleticism.

If Cooper puts up elite test scores at the Scouting Combine, he will very likely end up a top-32 selection.

I always hate these small sample size comparisons, last two superbowl winners did X. Who would the Giants have rather drafted 5th overall in 2022? Kayvon Thibodeaux, or Kyle Hamilton?

I hope someone is smart enough to take Downs high, otherwise the Rams are going to trade up for him.

Strongest edge prospect who didn’t do the bench. lol. If Bain was uniquely strong, they would have showed it off. That’s just agent 101.
How many reps of 225 you can do isn't a good representation of maximum strength, not even slightly. The tape shows that Bain is very strong. He is going to be awesome, arm length is important for edges that win with speed around the corner and Bain is a pocket pusher.

Yep, especially with such short arms, where typically the stronger you show out and the more reps you can do compared to people with longer arms…. Just another red flag to stay away.

He’s gonna be a bust more than likely… he would be an extreme statistical outlier to have success in the NFL at a high level

Yes, very strong but that is far different than the strongest edge non sense.

College strong is also different than NFL strong. Guys like him if they are maxed out struggle in the NFL when all they have is a bull rush and they weren't even super productive in college.

REPORT: Caleb Downs was flagged this week with a partially torn meniscus. There is also concern about a possible “degenerative ACL.” (per
@fakecorykinnan
)

It feels similar to the Will Johnson situation last year. We’ll see how it plays out.
