I never know how the numbers work.
In one of the posts yesterday, it said we had about 35mil effective cap space before this announcement. So did our effective cap space only go up 7mil, even though the cap went up 31mil?
yeah.... the previous cap space was an estimate based on the suspected increase in the cap... but the cap increased more than expected

According to OTC the Cardinals Effective Cap Space is now sitting around $43M

Most sites projected a cap increase and already included it in their estimates. However the official cap number was slightly higher than everyone projected. Most sites were projecting a 2024 cap of around $245-250M.

Side note--

I really have a feeling that the free agent splash could be Jaylon Johnson.

Jaylon, Williams, JT, and Budda is a nasty secondary

The NFL has announced that it will be $255.4 million per team for 2024. There also will be another $74 million per team in benefits.

The cap number for 2023 was $224.8 million. It has increased by 13.6 percent.

Earlier this weeks, multiple sources told PFT that the number was expected to be in the range of $242 million to $243 million. One source said, “Higher.” Another said it would be closer to $250 million.

Keep that in mind when a player gets a big contract and you think he doesn’t deserve it. The players and the league roughly split the money. So if $10.54 billion is going to players, another $10.54 billion is going to the teams

Half the league will have good money to spend now. And if the money is mostly equal...... I wonder how many FA's will choose this organization over others.
make no mistake--the draft is where this teams success will be created.

The FA period will be to plug a hole or two. And yes they will have to overspend to beat other teams, its part of the business.
