If they trade for Jrue, aren’t they basically just making themselves the older New Orleans Pelicans with AD/Jrue who never made much noise in the playoffs, if they even made it there?

I guess they’d look at next year as a wash and hope Kyrie/Jrue/Flagg/Davis would be formidable in year 2. If health fell the right way, they could be, but that’s a huge IF.

The Pelicans didn't make much noise back then but Jrue has really stepped up his game since then and so has AD. Not that they'd be great but I'd put them in the same category as Minnesota, Denver, and the Warriors of having a shot if they stay healthy and get a favorable playoff matchup or two.

It'd be interesting to see how far a team loaded with sidekicks does. Jrue to Giannis, AD to Lebron, Kyrie to Lebron/Durant/Luka, and the corpse of a splash brother in Klay.

Gen Z… lol… agreed. I’d have to swap out Nash for Iverson and even then, I’d say it’s tough to choose between Gen X and Millenials… which surprises me because of the way I romanticize the 90’s and the guys on that Boomer team.

I'm not a Jordan slobberer, but for me it's the Boomer team pretty comfortably. That's basically the original Dream Team plus Olajuwon.

Yeah, if you're looking at it not just from the perspective of talent but the way the talent fits together, it's boomers by a mile.

Also, for the millennials I'd drop Harden for Paul.

The guys who are more contemporary are likely to be better athletes overall due to advancements in training/nutrition/etc. But due to social changes, they are also likely to be less team oriented or willing to subjugate their egos for overall team success.

I really don't know how anyone can objectively correlate those factors to evaluate which group is "better."

im probably hella biased being a gen x who grew up watching boomer ball and the og dream team

I think I lean towards the Gen X team (plus Nash minus Iverson) because they’ve got four good to flat out great defenders to go with incredible offensive players. The Boomers obviously have the elite of the elite offense too and Jordan and Olajuwon are as elite as defenders get, but Magic/Barkley/Bird would make them a little shakier on D.

And on second thought, if I’m using D to slightly discount the Boomers, I’d have to drop the Millenials to 3rd with both Harden, Stef and Joker either being liabilities or average at best on that side of the court. But between LeBron, Joker, Harden and Stef, that team’s passing would be out this world.

The Gen Z team is too young at this point to even really be in the convo… especially because Giannis is laughably left off it.
